The tours was excellent so were the crew and staff. And the food delicious and plenty. I felt very sorry for the MC - he was great, funny and entertaining but had a very small audience. We were disappointed we never got to see a whale but had fun anywams. A member of my group had a fall and the staff were very attentive. Thank you kindly
The trip was ok, collected on time, boat was nice, not full so easy to wander around. Can't hold the crew responsible for the whales as they are wild animals but in the two hours takes close to 30 minutes to get out to the appropriate place and 30 minutes back, we saw 4-5 short glimpses of a whale expelling air through its blowhole, followed by a bit of its humpback and the tail as it dived. The boat can't legally get too close to the whales, about 100 yards I recall, unless they choose to surface near the boat which sadly they didn't. So, it was fine but I've been on better whale watching cruises elsewhere - luck of the draw when wild animals are involved however it was enjoyable and i'm glad I went.
The day I went on this tour the whales were all around or maybe it was just 1 whale playing all around - spotted repeatedly :
The staff is super friendly and helpful. They had this natural expert who was very knowledgeable, fun and engaging just like the other crew members :
The buffet lunch was excellent - varied, tasty and Hawaiian :
As for the activities, there was lei making, hula and ukulele lessons. I went for the ukulele - It's a shame I can't remember the instructor's name, but be sure he was very knowledgeable, fun and engaging :
This cruise was well-worth it! We were fortunate to see many whales, and the ship was clean and spacious. The optional meal was just okay we had the lunch. The food was plentiful, but not particularly exciting. I would definitely take the cruise again, but probably without the meal.
Did not see very many whales and what we saw was very brief. I guess we expected more activity. Actual cruise was great. The real rub was we were staying at the Hale Koa and I was told me the closest hotel was the Ambassador Hotel Waikiki. She didn't give me a list of pick up hotels. Coming back for drop off, the second hotel was the Hilton Hawaiian, within steps of the Hale Koa. All cruise employees needs to learn Waikiki better.
My wife and two friends took this tour on a cloudy day that had just stopped raining at noon. We didn't partake in the meal as it was only a two hour cruise and were going to eat elsewhere. The ship was large and there was no fear of getting seasick even though the waves were slightly rolling. Promised of a free cruise if there were no whale sightings didn't come into effect as we saw many whales after being on the water for about 45 minutes. You have to keep your camera ready as they appear without warning, some close and some further out. The crew was informative and friendly and answered many questions and gave examples of whales sizes with the participants. We've been on other whale watching cruises on smaller boats with closer looks but this one is good for the size of the ship. It is recommended for people who want a comfortable ride on a cruise ship to see whales and don't want to spend all day doing it.
My husband and our 3 children went on the morning ride with the breakfast buffet. Breakfast was really good! The staff was very friendly. We weren't able to see any whales. However your able to walk around the whole ship, its a really nice boat so it ended up being a fun ride anyway. They also give you a rain check if you aren't able to see any whales.
