The Blue Mountains IS stunning the views and wildlife are breathtaking
PROS:
We were picked up on time. The bus journey will take a few hours, the good thing it has AC and the driver Markie Markie will keep you informed and you get to see the local sights that you don't see in the hotel, plus jokes and riddles the entire trip up the mountain. The bus will take you up to 7,000 feet and then you cycle down.
We stopped for brunch the food was great and delicious. We were then introduced to the coffee that was produced there and this was available for purchase in their gift shop.
There is a large selection of bikes to choose from and the guides help you chose and make adjustments if required, we were given knee and elbow pads and a helmet, safety is paramount.
The roads in Jamaica aren't smooth mostly ones this remote, so the guide would regularly shout 'pot hole' and we would, in turn, shout it back up the single line we were cycling in. It was all good JAMAICAN fun.
Lunch is at the same stop off where we had brunch earlier, and the Jerk chicken and rice is really great and tasty. We also got to stop off to learn about the wildlife there and well as learn about which plants you could find to use as natural remedies. Then we continued downhill further on the bikes.
The tour ended with a dip in a cool waterfall where the locals will assist you and sell you drink and finally a 'beer drinking contest'. You will need money to tip these guys that help you in the waterfall. They are very kind and helpful. Also brought a bag of beautiful mandarins from a local. This is the time the bike guides one only will collect for all to tip them.
I would definitely recommend FANTASTIC DAY!
CONS:
1. Web site states over 60 years old you cannot ride Seriously look at my photo. I am 60 years old female and I was up the front riding as fast and good as anyone else. I would hope that I could still be riding in 20 years time or more. Found this offensive.
2. Brunch and lunch and they were really great were too close together time wise. We were starving for hours after we got on the bus and then were still full from Brunch to eat an early lunch. Dont know who you can change this as the venue was great. Maybe Brunch served at your office area?
3. The guide on the bike wearing the fluoro vest he was the only one was speeding past and weaving in and out and past rides which I though was very dangerous if a rider turned their wheel slightly. He was showing off, but was inappropriate riding like this with other riders not familiar with the bikes or roads. Idiot!
