Loved tour - learned so much about the whole process and have a new appreciation for the work tha goes into the making of champagne. Could have skipped lunch - food was not so good. Also, this other tour group jumped into our tour which was annoying. It was supposed to be just our group and the addition of their group is what took away from 5 star tour. Annoying guy from other tour group who decided to monopolize tour. Other than that it was great.
This tour is definitely not as described...we were dropped off at Reims Cathedral to do a self guided tour, the tour guide did not even come in with us. We also did not see grapes pressed or wine blended even though it was possible to do so in early September. Tour guide was more interested in letting the tourists sleep in the van rather than giving them lots of information on the region. Moet and Chandon was fantastic, the other winery was dirty and rather disgusting. Disappointing.
Perfect transportation and tour guide. Driving through the countryside and learning facts along the way made for a very pleasant day. Very informative and interesting champagne visits. Reim and Epernay were quaint and beautiful
Not Worth it. This is a 24 person tour spread out over 3 minibuses. Two glasses of Champagne tastes over the entire tour. We booked an English speaking tour. We ended up on an English and Spanish speaking tour. Lots of time was wasted attempting to translate. Lunch took two hours to feed 24 guests simultaneously. No champagne was offered. The tour guide did pick us up on time. A minimum of four Champagne tastings is highly recommend. Lunch at a winery with champagne pairing would have been preferred. Reims Cathedral is incredible!
This was an amazing day trip from Paris. We live in the wine country in Oregon but had never learned about the process to make champagne. This was all new learning for us especially about the second fermentation process. Lunch was at a very quaint old mill restaurant. The tour was very informative and well worth the time.
So happy we took this tour. Our guide, Herbert, was super! He was a very careful driver and kept us informed and entertained the whole day. The restaurant lunch was delicious. Obviously, we enjoyed the Moet and Chandonne tour, and the tastings there, and at the local champagne maker. The stop at Reims cathedral was so memorable. We also got to make a stop for coffee and a pastry about middle of the morning near the cathedral. Highly recommend doing this if you have the opportunity!
We were highly disappointed and let down with this tour which cost us a lot of money. Our tour guide did no teven bother to introduce himself or welcome us to the tour. We found out his name Chris from speaking to other guests on the bus. When stopping at Rheims we were left to our own devices despite the tour description including a guided tour of the cathedral. We were dropped off and given scant directions to the toilets which my husband needed. Alas the toilets were closed and we spent most of the time allocated to the cathedral trying to locate a toilet. Being around 10am there were very few cafes open. It was a nightmare. Quite distressing. Generally we found the tour guide rude, arrogant and bombastic. His response to my query about why we did not receive a guided cathedral tour was - I gave you a verbal description. Well this was not what we understood from the tour description on Viator. We were quite embarrassed by our tour guide's attitude to the owner of the last small winery we visited. He completed took over and interrupted her most of the time making us feel quite uncomfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our other two tours booked on Viator in different areas of France. We were looking forward so much to this trip to Champagne region and we were highly disappointed with the very expensive experience. All due to the tour guide.
