This was a wonderful combination especially given that we had limited time in Paris. This was not just one long tour but two separate tours with two different tour guides. This worked out very well for us as not only did we enjoy two very different tours we had plenty of time in between the two tours to walk from the D'Orsay Museum to the meeting place for the second tour which included but was not limited to the Notre-Dame Cathedral. We even had time for lunch near the meeting point for the second tour. Our guides were both very pleasant, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the tours they led. Since there were only 3 of us for the Notre-Dame tour we were able to see parts of the Cathedral that most tours don't have the time or ability to access. Loved this tour and our guide. Can't say enough good things about her. And, as she is originally from Toronto, for English speaking tourists she was terrific!!! And, of course the D'Orsay Museum is a must see for anyone visiting Paris. Love, love, loved both tours.
Musée d'orsay was my favorite museum of the 4 or so I went to. The isle de Paris Norte Dame tour was decent, but I would probably hit another museum and just walk through Norte dame on my own if I had time. Still had a great time, though.
Very beneficial and educational. Lilian - Our guide at the Orsay, provided background and history of the many artists whose works are displayed at the museum. She also provided background on the historic train station that is now the home of the Orsay. Covered the major areas and artists that included Van Gogh, Cezanne, Courbet, Monet, Degas and many others among our favorites. And be sure to go to the top level to look through the window with the clock for a wonderful view of Paris. Could have easily spent another hour here without being overwhelmed as the Orsay is very well organized.
For the Norte Dame tour, our guide Randa provided an introduction of French history and for Norte Dame which was helpful to a number of people in the group not familiar with the history. Notre Dame is always crowded but we managed to negotiate our way through the ground level of the church. Although the modern French people and Parisians are mostly secular, they recognize the importance of Notre Dame and other historic cathedrals as essential to their natural heritage.
claire was our tour guide for orsay, katrina for notre dame. both were excellent, informative, friendly, audible, patient and passionate in their love of the art they shared, eager to set the context for what you're seeing and really increasing your ability to enjoy it. some things to keep in mind. small group and skip the line is the only way to go. the crowds will overwhelm the experience and the lines will steal the day. particularly notre dame. get the bell tower option. the crowds inside just keep you from seeing what you want to see, despite how great katrina is, they're just too much.
Really loved the d'Orsay Tour! A highlight of our trip for sure. Our guide for that part was very knowledgable and friendly. The audio receivers are a great idea so that everyone could hear the guide clearly. We had 16 people I guess that's a small group??. The Notre-Dame Cathedral tour was fine but the guide was not able to talk inside so we stood outside for a long time while he explained things and then we stood in the security line for 20 min. He tool us for a walk around the area too. Not sure if I'd do that part again.
This was a great tour. Both of the guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. The best part was the headsets that you used. It was so easy to follow along with what was being said, where you were going and when you needed to move along to what was next. Even with other people around and other noises, it was very easy to follow along. The only thing that I would change would be the meeting place for the Notre Dame tour. We had to ask several people where that specific metro station was and had a hard time finding it.
Our guide was very knowledgeable, but a little flat. The presentation was a bit dry and academic, less entertaining and engaging. Although our guide spoke English, it was with an accent that made it difficult to concentrate. Overall, the tour was a better option than wandering around aimlessly.
