You could get your tickets at the Museum and buy the audio tour there. You have to walk a bit to pick up the audio pens at their office, You then have to walk them back to the office when completed. The time you save in not waiting in line gets eaten up from walking back and forth from the office. Also inside their are plenty of places to eat- little bakeries or sit down meals. The Museum is spectacular and should be a must for anyone visiting Paris.
This tour worked for our group. You pick up your audio guide and map at their office in Paris. You do have to leave your license behind to ensure they get their audio equipment back. You can walk to Musee d'Orsay with a self-guided audio tour. It was nice to do this on your time and schedule.
The museum itself was phenomenal but the guide book/audio contraption provided by the tour company was not helpful at all. It would've been better to rent the audio tour directly from the museum itself once inside.
Big disappointment! Nothing like what I'd read while booking it.
Was asked to reach an office a long distance from the museum where an Audio Guide was handed over and was pointed in the direction. it was a long walk and even after that the audio guide hardly had any information in it. Got really frustrated and had to PAY AND TAKE the museum's audio guide.
After this had to walk all the way back to the office to return their stupid device. What a waste of time and money.
This is my second bad experience with Viator within a week and will never use any of its services again.
The ticket office to pick-up the tickets/audio-guide is a good 15 minute walk from the museum....you are required to leave a 60 euro deposit for the audio guide...so that means you must walk back to the office after the tour to reclaim your deposit This should be specified in the advertising for the tour...kids in the office were lackadaisical and had limited knowledge of what they were doing....we were given initially given audio guides for the Louvre...we had to find and correct the error....
The Skip the Line tickets did nothing but put you into a queue of others who had purchased tickets previously...perhaps on-line...or had a museum pass....there was still a 45 minute wait outside cold and windy on our day!...This should be specified in the advertising for the tour
The audio guide had a very limited collection of paintings to review about 40....and some of the treasures were not included....the museum offers an audio guide for 6 euro that includes many more paintings....and you do not have to walk 15 minutes after your visit to return it...
So...for 19 euro advance on-line ticket and audio guide at the museum you can actually have a better experience than the approx. 38 euro we paid per person for the Viatour/Paris City tour we booked....
Oh yeah....the reservation time on the voucher meant nothing...we showed up...got our ticket...then walked and got in line almost an hour before our tour time.....
Sorry this was such a bad experience....we have historically had great success with tours booked through Viatour....
not happy with booking. it was NOT made clear that the voucher for this ticket was only collectable from an office 25 mins walk away from museum. we queued for museum and without the help of staff inside, would not have known where to collect ticket.
also audio ear phones had a 60 deposit - and they had to be returned back to that office on the same day.
unsatisfactory and misleading tour. would not use again
