essentially a guided bus ride to sights which are free of charge to see when you get there, though to be fair Mika our guide for the day did a good job of keeping us informed as we drove around. Have been to Iceland before and had much better weather in winter and unfortunately the persistent rain meant we barely saw the sun all day so didn't get to see these sights at their best; clearly that's not the travel company's fault. The itinerary clearly states it's a small group of around 20 people and the minibus we were on felt a bit cramped compared to some I've been on but again, access to some of the locations would be difficult for larger vehicles.Iceland's not a cheap place to go so I suppose this tour is in line with other aspects of visiting the country (check out the prices of the Blue Lagoon admission!) but even so, it felt like we didn't get a heck of a lot for our money on this occasion.
Excellent trip. The tour ran smoothly throughout and the guide was very informative. He also made an extra stop for us at another waterfall where no one else was around! You are allowed plenty of time (approximately an hour) at each stop to enable you to take in the breathtaking views. I wasn't sure whether we would have enough time in the blue lagoon, but I found it to be the right amount of time so I would recommend booking tickets for that too. They can help you get hold of tickets if necessary. The only reason I wouldn't give it the full five stars is because at our first stop at a national park, we arrived (around 10am) and it was pitch black, very windy and very rainy. We therefore couldn't do much at this stop (you couldn't see the scenery which, from pictures, looked nice). I understand the weather is outside of the tour operators control though! Overall I would highly recommend this trip.
My daughter and myself went on this tour as part of my 50th birthday celebration week. It was great. The small group was a lot better than going on a coach full. Much friendlier as a group and our tour guide/driver, Thor, was a credit to tour guides. Informative, friendly, enthusiastic, funny, and fitted in an extra waterfall for us. The coach was a brand new Mercedes with leather seats and usb chargers. A must for travellers in Iceland taking pictures of everything and uploading to Facebook!
I took several tours while in Iceland but this one was the best one, so many beautiful new landscapes to explore, easy to reach the destinations, very organised, excellent sightings, the guide was profesional and very friendly, good value for money, I strongly recommend it!
This is a must-do tour. We got to witness so many amazing nature phenomenon, like waterfalls, volcanic craters, and one and only blue lagoon. Make sure you got waterproof case for your phone to take once in a lifetime photos when you are soaking in the blue lagoon.
