These skip-the-line tickets were a waste. What we got for our money was a short tour of 8 or 10 galleries with a brief talk by the guide focusing on a single work. Then it was on to the next gallery. At the unexpected end we were escorted to the exit. I asked if we werent permitted to view the works on display until closing time and was told simply No. Im an art historian and there were many pieces in the Borghese that I wanted to see, but I was denied access to the public displays.
AVOID THIS TOUR ! Its yet another Roman rip-off.
Great tour. No lines. Great narration by an informed guide. Wonderful. The only complaint (and it is a small one) is that there were many things within the museum that we did not stop for. We were told not to worry, that we would be coming back around to see them later.... We never did get back to them. That was a bit disappointing. Having said that, I would highly recommend this tour to anyone! Just take your pictures when you can, because you may not get a second chance.
The Borghese Gallery is an amazing collection of beautiful and historical art work. There is a great deal to see and it is very helpful to review a guidebook ahead of time or pay up for the guided tour. There are NO bags of any size allowed in the museum. In the actual museum you will be carrying your phone/camera in your hand or pockets. Bags can be checked ahead of time.
Buy your tickets before you come to Rome because the tours fill up quickly and there are a limited number of people allowed entry. Once you are in, you have two hours. You have two floors to cover. By doing some research ahead of time and not having an audio tour, we were still able to thoroughly enjoy the museum. We simply enjoyed the beauty and craftsmanship. If you like further details, I suggest paying for the audio upgrade. The Bernini sculptures are incredible in their detail and life like quality. The paintings were incredibly vivid. As with all of Rome, there is much to see from the marble inlaid table to the painted ceilings and everything in between. We found the two hours was enough time to enjoy the Borghese Gallery.
Outside the Gallery is a beautiful park, the Villa Borghese. We enjoyed walking around in the beautiful oasis nestled inside Rome. You can walk, watch birds, people watch or ride a bike.
Segway Rome tours was extremely helpful in preparing us on how, when and where to visit the gallery. I had several questions prior to our arrival in Rome and they always responded promptly and thoroughly.
This was one of the highlights for me in Rome. I had been anticipating the Borghese gallery for a long time as I believe Bernini is amazing. This was worth the money, I paid for skip the line and they offered a free tour so I took it. I believe this is a must see in Rome. I would definitely buy these tickets.
If you like sculptures, art or history, this place is totally worth a visit. Its a bit out of the way from most of the major attractions in Rome, so you might want to plan accordingly and take a taxi/bus to this gallery. If you order tickets from Viator, then you will need to look for your Viator contact/guide FIRST when you arrive. They will be somewhere right outside the gallery. Do NOT go in the downstairs ticket office....You will wait in line, reach the guest desk, only to be told they can't help you and send you back outside. Otherwise, the line to get into the actual gallery moved quickly.
