Vue d'ensemble

This was a fantastic trip. All our group enjoyed feeding the reindeers and the sledge ride.
Everyone was super friendly.
Soup and a warm drink were provided, which was much appreciated and very tasty!
Would highly recommend this trip, for young and old.

Brilliant few hours feeding reindeer and going on a slay ride. Must do when in Tromso but be warned it is expensive but everything is expensive in Norway so take loads of money - you will need it!

Visiting Tromso has been an experience. It is a small town with a good bunch of friendly people. This sledding tour is an eye opener especially if you are an Asian like me! Going up to the mountains and experiencing a -20 degrees temperature is one unlike any other. You get to see the reindeers and feed them first hand without any gates. You get to experience the Sami culture of eating reindeer meat and/or vegetable soup. There is an option of requesting for vegetarian. For those who are muslims, this is a tour that you can consider without any worries. The tour guide is nice and they will wait for you for about 10mins prior to departure time. My only advise for you is to come prepared with your thermals as NO thermals is provided is in this trip. There is a bonfire and please be ready to experience coldness first hand! :

I would recommend this unique experience to anyone travelling through northern Norway, especially if you have kids. We were able to start interacting with the reindeer almost immediately. The local Sami herders gave a good description on how to best feed the animals and let us get to it. There was plenty of opportunities for pictures and to interact with the reindeer. They were friendly and would just walk up to you!

After you were done feeding them, the hospital Sami people provided lunch as they interacted with all their guests. They were very nice to talk with and it was interesting to hear their perspective. From what I understand, they've only recently started opening up their land for tours so it's all still very new to them.

With lunch finished, they led us into one of their lavvus and talked about the Sami way of life. I found the talk interesting, especially since they treated us to some of their joiks, which is a form of singing. They lead us back outside to throw lassos onto reindeer antlers before we headed back to Tromso.
