Panoramica

Mediocre at best

While the Villa was stately as advertised the wine tour was less than I expected. The tour guide was engaging but the facility tour was rushed and rather superficial. The 4 course meal was little more than cold cuts and cheese along with Penne Pasta and Pesto which was also unspectacular and a couple of biscotti for dessert. After this the tour guide strongly pushed their estate wines for shipping, however the wines served throughout the 4 courses were drinkable but at best only equivalent to $7.00 Trader Joe offerings, nothing close to the super Tuscans and Brunello's we had become spoiled with in Florence. I would not recommend this tour to anyone who knows anything about wine or Italian cuisine. For this price we could have had dined out twice in Florence with great wines and authentic local cuisine.

Transported to an historic villa in the hills above Florence. Unbelievable history, dinner and wine. Guide was very knowledgeable and engaging. This is among the best wine-tasting tours that I've attended!

Pleasant evening in a charming setting

The spacious villa where the wine tasting and dinner took place was charming beyond words, set on a hillside 15 minutes south of Florence. The grounds were lovely and included grape vines and olive trees in the traditional Tuscan planting style. The buildings were beautiful and housed a bed -and -breakfast, private quarters for the owner and his family, and included a large, modern swimming pool. The place would be a perfect setting for a wedding, and in fact, weddings take place there regularly. The guide was very knowledgable about the region, the villa, and winemaking, and was very enthusiastic, warm, and bubbly. The wine was good - each one we tasted was the authentic, made in the winery on the premises. Same with the olive oil. The food was reasonably good and surprisingly, the tour group - consisting of visitors who were strangers to one another - turned out to be wonderful tour companions and we had a great evening of local wine, authentic Tuscan food, interesting conversation, and excellent company. Be prepared to get a mild sales pitch for ordering the local wine.

Paula our guide was excellent. She was very knowledgeable and entertaining and fun. We highly recommend her. The event not as much. The villa had been booked for a wedding party so it was off limits to our tour. The beautiful grounds were mostly off limits too. If we wanted to take photos of the sunset we had to sneak quietly to a doorway and take them without speaking so we didn't disturb the other guests. It wasn't as though the wedding was even happening that day either. It was a Monday night. The weather was perfect to have our dinner in the garden yet we were crammed into a small room. At least the air conditioning worked well. The food wasn't bad but in our 2 weeks in Italy this was our least favourite meal, and also our most expensive.

Tour and hospitality was great but ordered $295 of wine that has not been delivered after over 30 days. Also, very poor communication from the winery.

A Great Evening!!

Our wine tour, tasting, and dinner at the villa in Florence was excellent. Our tour guide Laura was professional, knowledgeable, and very attentive. The food we were served was very good, we had very good selection of different antipasti, a great pesto pasta first plate, and an incredible second plate of roasted pork with potatoes. The wine pairings of a white and two reds from the villa winery were also very good. When we first arrived at our pick up point I was a little concerned that we had a group of 32 people. However the group was well managed and once we settled in for dinner, the size of the group was not a factor, we had a wonderful evening. I would certainly recommend this tour.

Although we enjoyed our evening at the private Tuscan villa, it left a little to be desired, especially when compared to the description of the event. We did a brief tour of the villa and learned the basics of wine making. We then were in a small room in the villa for the "four course" dinner. The first course, which was an assortment of meats and cheeses, was by far the best course. The second course was pesto pasta, which was no better than the pesto pasta we had on the plane to Italy. The third and main course was pork, which is not something we would see in restaurants around Italy. It was served with potatoes and a simple salad of iceburg lettuce. Finally, we had the last course, which was just a small biscotti. The guide for the night was not the villa's winemaker, like advertised, but was a sommelier from America. The best part about the evening was getting to get out of the city for a night and we did enjoy that. We ended up sneaking out of the dinner for a few minutes to enjoy the sunset, which was gorgeous. However, given the price of this item, I would not recommend it. You could find better tours of a Tuscan villa and get a better dinner at almost any restaurant in Florence for a fourth of the price.
