We got picked up at 08:30am and dropped off at 20:00. In that time we were allowed off the bus at the national park for 35 minutes, the geysers for 30 minutes and Gullfoss falls for 15 mins. The speakers on the bus were not working so we missed all the commentary. We were then put on another bus to take us snowmobiling. The bus had no heating whatsoever and the temp outside was minus 9. We got to the snowmobile centre to be rushed into our outdoor attire. We booked a one hour skidoo for two people. We only got about 15 minutes each instead of the 30 minutes expected. They let you go up a hill, stand at the top for 10 mins, swap and back down. We then got put back on an unheated bus for the trip back to Gullfoss (around 45-50 minutes). All in all it felt like a very expensive day on a bus. That said the actual places are so worth a visit as they are stunning.
We went on the Golden Circle day tour with snowmobiling on Langjokull Glacier. It was a 10 hour tour and before we went I had no idea how they would keep us entertained for 10 hours. It was beautiful. Pingvellir National Park had great views, it was sunrise when we arrive there at 10 am and the sun coming up over the snow covered mountains was just breathtaking. The Geysir tour was very nice and the Gullfoss waterfall spectacular. We then went on the snowmobile tour. That was very fun, however there was a lot of waiting around as the bus had gotten stuck in the snow and then when were arrived at the location we had to wait a bit for the prior snowmobile group to get back. It was a little inconvenient but still worth it!
It was a nice trip, but not amazing and could have been a lot better. Seemed poorly organised and we didn't always know what was planned. There also seemed to be a few changes to the schedule which were communicated late or not at all. We got an extra half an hour at the Waterfall which was a blessing but didn't expect that until we got there - so couldn't plan. The snowmobiling was billed as the highlight - but there was so much waiting around, transferring from vehicle to vehicle - then when we go t there, we just drove slowly in single file one way for 10 - 15 minutes. Reached a point, sat there for 5/ 10 minutes wondering what was going to happen next, then we drove back to where we started, again slowly and in single file then got off and Hung around for ages until the vehicles were ready to take us back. Got back to Reykjavik 2 hours later than expected.
The country's geography and geology are fascinating and this trip gives a great insight. The snowmobiling is the added fun element. In time I'm sure there will be even more background information available at the site of the waterfall and about the glaciers. With only 4 hours of light and the weather not conducive for the Northern Lights we appreciate as much info as possible to maintain enthusiasm
This is a very good tour, but if your looking to go at your own pace this is not the tour for you. Very regimented on times as there is a lot to get done, especially with the diminishing light in winter. You’ll get 20-30 mins at each attraction. The Sniw mobiling on the glacier is the best part, the views are simply breathtaking not to mention your riding your own snow mobile.Overall a very good day out.
Our tour Gide was fantastic ! The lady driver was great . I enjoyed every minute of it . I learnt so much about Iceland . Also snowmobile, what an experience! I was bymyself and got to ride the whole hour ! Glacier is unbelievable!
The trip was excellent. Our guide, Hershey (his nickname) was extremely informative and organized.
The first stop at ththe Geysir was nice but not as exciting if you’ve seen other geysers seen before. But still a natural wonder.
The bulk of the trip was transferring to and prepping for the snowmobile. I was praying it was worth it after all that. It def lives up to the expectations! Truly spectacular. And all the transferring from one van to the other is valid considering al the different terrain you need to cover. Just amazing.
The last stop at Gullfoss was a gorgeous waterfall. The latest of those near Reykjavík.
Tour guide was awesome, told a lot of great troll stories during the drive. The snowmobiling was unbelievable and is a must do while in Iceland! The only thing I might change is making the tour a little longer to enjoy some of the sights more. Only ever had about 20-30 minutes to enjoy the waterfalls, plates, and geysers and I would have loved more time to explore the waterfall. The snowmobiling makes this tour worth every penny, though!
The snowmobiling was the highlight of my entire trip. The weather was amazing. We got to ride for an hour. The snowmobile went up to 70kph for me. I was a bit disappointed for not being able to see Kerid crater. This is not included due to time. But our guide was amazing and so is the tour company. I would definitely go back and do this again.
