Excellent casual tour

The Terra-Cotta Warriors is a must see in Xi'an. My guide was Bella and she was knowledgeable and friendly. Both Bella and the Tour Company kept in touch with me via WeChat before and after the tour. [Recommendation: Download WeChat if travelling in China]. We had enough time visiting the Terracotta Warriors and the explanations from our guide Bella were very detailed and professional. Everything else is a a bit of a time filler really, but here's a summary: - The tour was about a dozen people on a minibus. - First we went to the Banpo Neolithic Village was interesting. It's quite small and doesn't take long to visit. - Secondly we went to the Terra-Cotta Warriors factory. It supposedly the official Government one, but who knows. It's an excuse to sell souvenirs and you can get the same basic souvenirs much cheaper at the actual site (prepare to be shocked at how much the street sellers want to charge on the way in and how little you can pay on the way out). You will also have lunch here and the buffet lunch caters for all tastes, but it's a little basic. You should probably try the so called Chinese hamburger here (small surcharge). I didn't and I regret not doing so. - Third, the Terracotta Warriors... It's why you're here - I won't elaborate other than to say a must do. - Finally, the Qin Mausoleum, which isn't really visited. It's a mound you see from the road in the distance. You don't visit because there's nothing to visit. It's never been opened and as such is not a tourist attraction. So basically the minibus stops and you can take a photo from the distance out of the window. If these comments sound negative, they're not. The tour was very good, and Bella my guide excellent. However like with all these things, you need to know what to expect before hand (e.g. some people got upset at the amount of souvenir selling in the factory). You get what you pay for and if you do your research or have done other similar tours you'll know the above items are pretty much to be expected unless you spend a lot more on a private tour. On the return to Xi'an I was dropped at the South Wall and rented a bike to do a lap of the wall with some people I met on the tour. I hadn't planned to do this, but Bella mentioned it was an option on the return journey and a few of us thought it sounded cool... and it was! I really enjoyed my tour and I'd definitely recommend it to the casual explorer (like myself) who's looking for good value and not in a huge rush. Thanks!
