Vienna may not be as renowned for its shopping like Milan and Paris are, but one of the biggest local attractions for bargain hunters keen to score some discounts is Designer Outlet Parndorf, conveniently located just a half hour’s drive from the city center. Also close to Bratislava in Slovakia, Parndorf has nearly 140 world-famous retail outlets under one roof and offers the chance to secure savings of between 30 and 60 percent on recommended retail prices.
Parndorf’s high-end fashion brands include Gucci, Tommy Hilfiger, Polo Ralph Lauren and Calvin Kline; international stores include accessories specialists Coach, Timberland, Wolford and Adidas as well as high-street chains Mango, Stefanel and The Body Shop. Kids can be dressed in Petit Bateau, Diesel and Burberry, while designs for kitchen and home can be unearthed in Le Creuset and stylish Villeroy & Boch. Several lunch venues are found conveniently on site, including noodles and dim sum at Asios Cocos, fast food at Burger King and pastries at Ströck.
Opening hours are Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. A shuttle bus runs daily from outside Vienna’s State Opera House and costs €11 for adults and €4 for children. Drivers will find plenty of parking spaces and electric car charging stations. Parndorf is a 30-minute drive from Salzburg along the A4 East Motorway (Ostautobahn); exit Neusiedl am See-Gewerbepark. Families can leave their kids at Dinoland, where supervised activities and workshops are held daily and personal shoppers can be booked in advance. WiFi is available throughout the mall.
