Top Day Trips from Orlando
If you tire of Orlando’s theme parks, there are plenty of nearby Florida destinations worth a visit. Relaxing on the beach, exploring the oldest town in the country, and learning about space travel are a few options. Here’s info on these and more.

Kennedy Space Center — 52 miles (84 km) from Orlando
Called the greatest space adventure on Earth, the Kennedy Space Center is a special treat. Take a virtual moon walk, try the thrilling Shuttle Launch Experience, or tour the space launch headquarters. You can even upgrade to enjoy lunch with an astronaut or try the Ultimate Space Experience, which includes both lunch with an astronaut and a 90-minute, in-depth tour of the NASA facilities. Tours from Orlando typically last about 10 hours.

St. Augustine — 107 miles (172 km) from Orlando
Visit one of the country’s oldest towns on this full-day tour from Orlando. Admire the Spanish Colonial architecture throughout St. Augustine and see historic landmarks such as Castillo de San Marcos, the oldest fort in the United States. The tour includes plenty of free time for shopping and exploring the charming cobbled streets on your own; optional activities include a cruise through Matanzas Bay and a 90-minute sightseeing trolley tour. The drive to St. Augustine is about two hours each way, so day-long tours generally last about 10 hours.

Clearwater Beach — 115 miles (185 km) from Orlando
A day trip to Clearwater Beach can be as relaxing or active as you like. Lounge on the beach for a few hours or enjoy an activity such as deep-sea fishing, a pirate cruise, a visit to the Marine Aquarium, or a Sea Screamer cruise. Day tours to Clearwater Beach usually run at about 12 hours.

Everglades National Park — 207 miles (333 km) from Orlando
Experience the subtropical wilderness of the Florida Everglades by boat, cruising through marshes and swamps trying to spot a variety of wildlife—including alligators. A stop in the Everglades can be included as part of a longer day tour to another destination outside of Orlando. Boat rides generally last 30 to 90 minutes.

Miami — 235 miles (378 km) from Orlando
While Miami makes for a long day trip from Orlando, it is well worth it. Relax on the sandy beaches, cruise on Biscayne Bay, check out the art deco architecture on South Beach, and go shopping at the busy Bayside Marketplace. The drive from Miami to Orlando is about four hours, so a full-day tour can last upwards of 15 hours, including a stop at the Everglades en route. Prepare for a long, fun-filled day.
