This was a great way to get a PRIVATE tour of the city, including the locks and the old town. Perfect for those who only have a few hours to get a feel for the place!
While our guide was friendly and offered great recommendations for lunch, he basically fabricated the entire history of Panama City. About an hour into the tour, my husband and I started to realize that his overview of the city wasn't really adding up, so as inquisitive people, we pulled up Google and referenced our Fodor's Panama City Guide for accurate information. From telling us an inaccurate history of the Canal construction to false information about the country's separation from Colombia and Noriega's rule - he got it all wrong. Our guide was a great chauffeur and translator which we were grateful for, but he wasn't exactly tour guide material. We ended up booking another city tour with Omar at PBA Holding Group the following the day and he was fantastic!
Alex was our guide for a wonderful tour of Panama City. He knew the area very well, could answer our questions and was flexible on how the tour progressed. We could not have asked for a better tour or a guide on this day long adventure. We would highly recommend this tour and Alex as a guide to anyone visiting Panama City.
What a great way to see the important parts of Panama City. Nicolas was great, he even detoured the tour to take my girlfriend back to the hotel when she wasn't feeling well, drop her off and continue the tour with just me. This is a great way to see the canal and museum. It was nice to be there just as it opened and have him tell us the best place to stand and watch before it filled up. I also liked the local flavor he added to the tour. It was worth it to only see what I wanted to see and to be able to ask questions about local politics, culture and neighborhoods.
A private tour around the city. Panama City is wonderful, a surprise to most visitors: clean, organized, safe. The only problem is that traffic may get busy and difficult to manage at peak hours. We loved Casco Viejo stop. Since I am a senior citizen and have a knee problem I could not enjoy the walking parts of the tour as I would like to have done. The modern district and tall buildings were shown to us by our guide when we asked him to do so.
This Tour was excellent. Our guide, Marcos, was totally prepared for the day, he knew exactly when the ships would be transiting through the Canal and got us there to see it right on time. He showed us the Old Town and was very patient with us when we wanted to stop for a drink. He certainly knows what he is talking about! We were very impressed and would certainly recommend a tour of this type again. Thanks for the enjoyment!
This was a great tour! Communication with Panama Pelican via email ahead of the tour was easy and the trip itself was everything we hoped it would be. My husband and I only had one day to see the sights and this private tour enabled us to do that. The guide I think his name was Alex but it's been a few months so I could be wrong was very knowledgeable and good company. We never felt rushed, which I've found in the past to be a problem on tours. We also appreciated his flexibility with the schedule, as he allowed us to move the start time a little later than the listed one.
This trip is very over priced. When you sit down and work it out you can do it yourself for robably less than a third of the price. I chose the deluxe option which included transfers along with 2 other people, so the reality of it is that they charged 3 of us approx 120 to go 10 minutes down the road and back, 40 each as that was the price difference between the normal option and the deluxe option. On the return journey the driver picked his twin brother up on the way back to my hotel. Surely this should not be allowed. The trip included lunch and snorkel equipment, a sunbed and a walking tour of the island. Lunch was not that good, you had to choose what you wanted when you booked and it was a very limited menu. You could book the snorkel tour to the other side of the island via the company at a cost of 25. As id already paid 134 I had no intention of paying another 25 out so the only option was to use it on the beach. I initially started to do the walking tour but as everybody was dithering so much it would have taken forever, I gave up and went back to the beach. So, I paid 134 to get a ferry to an island, a sun bed and lunch - work it out yourself
We took the tour February 12, 2017 with Nicholas. He was an amazingly informed tour guide. So much in fact, that when we were at the Miraflores Locks and Museum, several folks surrounded him to listen to him stating the facts of the Canal. Additionally, Nicholas was a wealth of information on Panama City. It was a pleasure to have spent our scheduled time with him as we toured the city.
All positive except not easy to get uber or taxi to yacht club Panama City traffic is horrible
Easy to find the meeting spot. Then took the boat out to Taboga. Boat was full and even though it said there was wifi there was no instructions on how to access it. On arrival at Taboga we were shown our beach chairs and then did a walking tour of the island for about 45min. Then off for a lunch, then return to the beach where I relaxed both in the sun, shade, and water. The description mentions that you can pay extra for snorkeling, etc. but it didn't seem like it was worth it. Everyone was helpful but it seemed to be an expensive trip to the beach... not sure the value was there.
The check in was easy and quick with English speaking guide. The trip over was smooth and quick with good guide and comments helpful. The welcome drink and lunch were excellent with friendly quick service. The beach was ok but could use a clean up. Paid for an extra tour by 4x4 to top of the island. The guide was excellent with lots of information but the sites only fair. Were able to visit the local church and climb to top of the bell tower which was well worth the effort. All in all a very good trip worth the time and money
The tour itself was fine. The guide on the island, a young lady from the States who recently has her Panamanian residency obviously loves her job and the country Panama but this tour was NOT worth 328.00 for two people. I feel like I got absolutely shafted, more so when we arrived at the departure point at the Balboa yacht club and saw that ticket prices for the boat were 20 each.
Yes, we got picked up at the hotel by a driver. We could have taken a taxi for 10.
Yes, we could have taken a 10 taxi back to the hotel.
Yes, we had a mediocre lunch that would have maybe cost us 20 each.
Yes, we were given a snorkel that we could have rented for 5.
Yes, we could have rented a beach umbrella for 10
I wonder what the other 208.00 was for??
I know people have to make money but this tour left a sour taste in my mouth. Definitely NOT worth the money. The guide was great, the scenery was beautiful but all in all it was absolute daylight robbery.
BTW, we paid 5 extra for a beach locker for the day.
Ferry ride over was very fast although very crowded. Not enough seats for everyone. Tour of the town was OK, not too much to see. Arrival drink and lunch was very good. Beach was nice, chair and umbrella needed, chair was very hard and uncomfortable, could have used a cushion.
This is the way to see the Panama Canal! Our tour guide, Nicholas, was extraordinary! His language skill was excellent and his ability to personalize the sites and sounds of Panama City made the cost of this tour well worth it! We had an excellent lunch in the old city.
