I have nothing negative to say about my guide but the experience I had here was terrifying.
The hamman itself is located in an isolated alleyway which I found to be strange.
Upon entering, you meet a guy who was mans the entrance and I found him to be very creepy as when my guide left me alone to go in by myself, he tried to kiss me and touch me inappropriately.
The hamman seems to be a place where all the women gather to gossip but it is really like a jungle inside. They were nice enough to try to use hand language to communicate with me but it was hard as none of them spoke english. This is not your typical spa experience you would expect in a hotel! BE WARNED!
Thank you for your feedback. We have heard back from the tour operator concerning this reservation. The description for this tour notes that is is one of the older, and more traditional Hammam's in Egypt, meaning that it will be somewhat less modern than the 'typical spa experience' you make note of in your review.
Please also note that there are differences in culture and tradition when it comes to greetings in Egypt and other countries. The gentleman who manned the entrance to the Hammam may have acted differently than you expected, but it is likely a cultural norm for him. Your guide was unable to accompany you within the Hammam as it is a Women's Hammam, and your guide was not permitted inside.
We apologize that this experience did not live up to your expectations, but do hope that you enjoyed the rest of your time in Cairo. We do hope this information helps you, and future customers, in understanding which may be the best tours for you.
