I was travelling with my parents and my sister. As we only had 3 days in Ho Chi Minh City, this half-day tour was a good choice. The 2 hour ride to Cu Chi Tunnels was comfortable. We were with a group of about 25-30 people but never felt rushed or crowded. Our tour-guide Tinh, was a joyful soul who made the tour very lively and informative. She also gave us great tips for our time in Ho Chi Minh City.
We went on the Cu Chi Tunnels half day tour from Ho CHi Minh. Our guide, Tommy 'The Chicken' Cruise was brilliant. He had such a vast knowledge and infectious passion for the history of Vietnam and the tunnels, and really added to what was a very interesting day.
Also, TNK Travel dealt really well with an issue that arose. We had initially booked for a hotel pick up, but unfortunately this was not possible from our hotel location. The company was in touch by WhatsApp in good time to inform us of the situation, what to do, and to assure us we would be refunded for the additional cost of hotel pick up. On arrival at the tour office, our refund was given straight away, and out tour guide also checked that we had received it .
This was a great tour, we got to see several different tunnels, as well as helicopters and planes used during the war. The guide was very knowledgable and funny, and I definitely learnt a lot during the tour. A couple of things to note though: the meeting time said 7:30 as the bus would leave at 7:45, so we arrived bang on half past seven, but the bus didn't even turn up until 8:30, so it was an hour of standing in the street, being relentlessly hounded by street vendors trying to get us to buy something. The coach ride is also quite a lot longer than I thought (2.5 hours each way), but the bus is air conditioned and water was included which was nice. There's also no opportunity to stop for food on this tour, and considering it lasted from 7:30 until 4:30, it was quite a long day to go without any lunch. The tunnels are amazing, but the last set of tunnels, where you have the opportunity to go down 50m, are a little more scary than I thought they would be. I'm a 5ft3 girl, and they were a tight squeeze at times. Overall though, a great visit and really good value!
We really enjoyed this tour and our guide was very knowledgeable. We feel we learnt an awful lot and it was very very interesting, my partner really wanted to do this trip but I also had a great time and went in the tunnels.
I had a wonderful time, experiencing a bit of Vietnam recent history. Our guide, Ut had a good command of English and tried his best to answer questions from my group. Good price for a good tunnel tour.
Great experience - good mix of history, experiencing the tunnels first hand and shooting war era guns
Can't go to Vietnam and not go to the jungle where the war was fought. Cu Chi tunnels are where the local guerrillas sent team USA packing unless your claustrophobic, then don't go into the tunnels!
The ingenuity of the tunnels is amazing and they are well worth exploring. The last stretch of the last tunnel which is exactly as it was in the war, not widened, hot, humid and not lit, will push your limits and you'll be relieved to see light and land after going through 50 metres.
Go shoot some guns from the war too, may be your only chance to shoot an unaltered AK-47 and RPK bigger, more powerful, on a bipod. RPK on bipod is accurate and easy to find your mark and stick to it.
AK-47 is a beast. Kicks, sight wasn't accurate and had to manually adjust, but definitely worth the experience.
