Our tour of Versailles was very well organized, and our guide looked out for all of us on the train and made sure if we wanted to stay longer we knew how to get back to Paris. This is a must see on any trip to Paris, and was really enjoyable. Our guide was able to work us up to the front of all the rooms to explain the history and what they were used for. We really liked the gardens, and she took us to her favorite working fountain - which was lovely. We ended up staying for lunch at a restaurant in the gardens, and it was delicious! This was a great tour and a fun day.
With the strike we did not know if this tour was going and phone number did not work and the other number provided was not for the tour. Also, if your take tour, the way back is without a guide, so we had no idea how to get back to hotel. Luckly we found a taxi stop and got a cab. The tour was beautiful and informative and would have given a 5 if not for poor communication.
This tour of Versailles was absolutely wonderful! The small group private tour format was very intimate and informative. Herve is so knowledgeable and passionate about this landmark and its history. I would recommend this tour to anyone interested in seeing Versailles from a unique perspective. - Jason and Whende Carroll
We had an amazing experience! I booked this tour together with my girlfriend. Despite that fact that we were the only people who booked on the day, they still sent the guide who spent 3.5h with the two of us! Hervé is a passionate guy, that really loves what he does!
The meeting point is easy to find and the trip is only 20 min by train no change, very convenient. We skipped the line both the one for independent people and the one for groups and gained access via a small door on the side of the palace. We really felt like VIPs, and this treatment didn't stop there.
The guided tour was absolutely amazing, Hervé was very knowledgeable about his stories - both serious history facts and interesting tales, with an impeccable English. No gate stood in our way - literally! We accessed the chapel, sitting in the middle, where Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette got married, admiring the ceiling and royal balcony, none visible from the entrance, where tourist access is normally restricted.
Also, we avoided the crowds by going through restricted areas. We visited the king's private apartments, an area where visits are currently very restricted, and where we could also see some amazing things such as a remake of the original curtains today sewn at a cost of 3 KEUR per cm sq. It was a wonderful experience that placed us right in those times of the history.
After visiting the palace, the guide took us to the gardens, where we walked together through half of them, listening to tales of things that happened between those lovely nature's walls. After the guided visit was over, Hervé recommended a plan to visit the rest of the gardens, leaving us with some other brief indications in mind, which we followed without regret. They provide a train ticket for you to return upon your wish, so no worries about not dedicating enough time on your own!
For visiting Versailles, we recommend booking at least an additional 3h time slot on top of the guided tour so about 6-7h in total - there are plenty of beautiful things to see there, especially in the gardens, on your own!
Awesome day at Versailles with our wonderful tour guide Herve. He met us promptly and took our small group on the train ride to Versailles. He was funny, attentive and knew everything there was to know about the Palace and Gardens. He gave us all headsets so that we could always hear him over the sounds of other tourists and their guides inside of the palace. We enjoyed our morning tour of Versailles so much that we chose to stay on after lunch for the afternoon of the Petit Trianon. The afternoon was every bit as great as the morning as Herve knows everything about Marie Antionette and shares it with the passion he feels for her and for that time in history. I would very highly recommend this tour and Herve. You will love every minute of it.
