This tour is very divers one gets to know South Korea. First we were in a group of 13 people, for the second half of the trip in a group of 24 people. The small group was better to get to know people. Also the first bus was more comfortable than the second one. The tour involves quite some walking which is good given that plenty of food is served. The landscapes at the coast and in the mountains were gorgeous and we were very lucky with the weather. Our guide was very kind and helpful. Pick-up service to the airport worked perfectly. We had always dinner before hotel check-in. Here I would suggest to have dinner at least for the last evening after check-in and if possible in the hotel so that people can stay together to say good bye.The hotels were all very good (not all 5 star in international terms), but a very good price-quality relationship overall.
Excellent well planned trip. Great experiences for first time travelers -- highly recommended. Mark our tour guide kept everything running smoothly. Experiences included interesting villages, wearing native costumes, castles, temples, rare sites and of course the food. This would be difficult to do on your own in the same time and with excellent hotels. Recommend adding a Seoul and/or DMZ 1 day Viator tours to get a comprehensive
Excellent trip covering many of the must see places and cultural heritage highlights. Our guide Hong made the trip all that more special. His English was first class and he was very passionate about the Korean Heritage. His recall of dates and history was astounding.... he has been a guide for 17 years which helps...
The temples speak for themselves but the reason we chose this trip was the variety of places you visit and we were not disappointed.
The Tapsa Temple was very special, the green tea plantation wonderful, we arrived here very early and had the place to ourselves initially.... The Hahoe Village at Andong was very interesting, as its 600 years old and the houses are occupied by private owners so it's a living village not a theme park experience... !!! Also the Jumunjin Fish market was much better than expected, live auctions taking place and a hive of activity. The National Park hike was stunning. These were just a few of the highlights for us.
We were very lucky that initially there was only the two of us for the first four days.... the tour company policy is that the tour takes place even with two booked, Another couple joined us for the last few days heading back to Seoul.
The hotels were all very comfortable, four were excellent, genuinely five star quality and the other two very good.
The meals were all very varied and Korean. A chance to taste all types of Korean food in a variety of settings. Even if your not a fan of Korean food there is generally something you will manage to eat. The breakfasts in the hotel were very good, some of them excellent. Great choice of Korean and western options.
In summary we were so lucky in having such a passionate guide who made the trip extra special. The trip met all our expectations and surpassed them in many case. A very worthwhile and recommended trip.
This trip was my first to Korea and the tour gave me an excellent first impression of this country. The sights vary from Buddhist temples to excavation sites, modern cities, old villages and mountain / sea scenery. The tour was well organized and efficiently guided. The hotels and restaurants were well chosen for location and food quality. I can definitely recommend this tour. I definitely recommend combining this trip with more days in Seoul.
