Our guide Pamela and our Driver were GREAT! Prompt, efficient, knowledgeable, friendly, and fun. The market tour was really how the Peruvians shop and cook. Great fun. Our lunch was not good. I would suggest choosing a place with nice Peruvian food, but not in such a primitive place. Fish was not fresh, ceviche was a bit mushy, and the fried rice had little taste. I know Pamela could not control this, so please choose another place for her to take us - perhaps the little bistro at the Bridge of Sighs? . :-)
This was a really great experience. It was my first day in Peru and it was made memorable and enjoyable by the guide and her knowledge and friendliness. Pickup was on time which is always a good start. Time at the market was great with really interesting tastings of different fruits. Peruvian snacks and a lunch were also given so this is a tour to go on when you are hungry!! The later part of the tour was the 'colors' part and it was gorgeous to see the street art. Pamela? was fabulous - interesting in all ways and very aware of the needs of the very small group. It was a great tour.
We had a fantastic morning learning about the food and art scene in Lima. We started at the docks and learned about the fishing industry, then went to a local market, tasted some delicious and strange fruits and finished up with a tasty meal of ceviche and chicharones de pescado. Then we went up to Barranca and walked around that beatufiul area. The guide was superb - informative, friendly, funny - and the logistics were spot on. This was the hilight of our stay in Lima.
This was a wonderful food tour and experience! Starting with pickup from our residence we traveled to 3 different areas of the city. Our guide Jonathan was very knowledgeable and helpful. He spoke both English and Spanish, what ever you needed him to. The fruit tasking at one of the markets we went to was very memorable! We tasted many fruits from Peru that we had never even heard of. I would highly recommend this tour, as I already have to a fellow traveler in Cusco!
I did this tour in January and it was fantastic. Led by guide Edgar or Edwin? who was incredibly proud of his culture and the good work his company does in supporting local indigenous Peruvians. We went to the seafront to see the daily catch and fish market and then best of all we went to a local food market in a suburb of Lima most tourists wouldn't know about and stuffed ourselves silly with all kinds of local food and drink you won't get in hotels. Terrific!
Great tour with a unique approach. We loved the opportunity to see the local neighborhoods and taste the local foods. We had already taken an all-encompassing highlights tour of Lima, so this was the perfect addition to really get a sense of how the people live and go on with their daily lives. Jean Paul is so knowledgeable and enthusiastic, you cannot come away from this without feeling like you are a welcome and honored visitor in Lima. Thanks for the memories!
