We had a wonderful time on our tour outside of London. The weather, however, had other plans for us. The UK was experiencing Storm Dennis and unfortunately we had to compete.
The tour departs from Victoria Coach Station, right outside the Evan Evans ticket office. Everyone was very helpful with information and informing us where we need to queue up. The tour bus was very clean (no hot food or beverages allowed). As we headed out of the city, our guide Tony, informed us of all the sites we were seeing.
Once arriving at Windsor Castle, we queued up, however after about 30 minutes were informed the castle would not be opened as the weather was too poor.
From there, we had some time to kill before getting to Stonehenge so Tony took us on a great tour of villages through the countryside. While we had to see it all through the bus windows, it was still nice to be able to see so much.
Because of the weather, Stonehenge was quite quiet so we were able to get right on a shuttle and head out to the stones. Very informative and such a wonder to see! We didn't linger long as the wind and rain grew quite intense. We were then given about 45 minutes to visit the gift shop and café.
Back on the bus, we headed further west to Bath (making a quick stop in Lacock to see some sites). The Roman Bath was very interesting and it was nice to be able to wonder on our own. The town was very lovely and it would have been nice to spend more then 90 minutes exploring (however at this point we were drenched and cold and ready to be back on the bus). The townsfolk were very friendly and very helpful.
The drive back to London took just under 3 hours and for the most part was very quiet. We did grow a bit frustrated with the folks directly behind us as they played their devices loudly and without regard to others sitting around them but, not much you can do in that situation. The bus made three different drop offs, a different locations and Tony helped get folks to the right one based on their final destination.
We very much enjoyed getting out of the city and were extremely disappointed to miss out on Windsor. *Tony informed us if we emailed Evan Evans office we could request a refund. I'm still awaiting word back from the tour office on that. Obviously they can't guarantee pleasant weather. I very much recommend taking this tour.
The trip was amazing. We had a tour composed of Tom and Chris. Chris was awesome and very knowledgeable. The whole tour he has some history to tell us and even ended the tour with a nice video on the history of the Stonehenge.
