We decided to book the tour with Meridian based on other's reviews. They are prompt at responding to any questions and were courteous to call us when the pick up was late on our first day. Communications was good.
Tour guides were very knowledgeable: Milena is a rock star - ask for her and her Dad and you will not be disappointed. It is clear she is so passionate about Porto and proud to show it off. Magdelena was also very knowledgeable and she took us on our Douro Valley tour. Both their english is very good. Our other tour guide Jose was a pleasant man and very accommodating, english is a bit rough but we got through it and still enjoyed having him as our tour guide. All were very polite, always asked about my elderly parents if they were ok and each one took the time to make sure we were happy with the tour.
The vans we traveled in were very clean, newer models and easy rides for day trips that sometimes took 45 mins to over 1 hour to get to.
Only hiccup was that they were always late to pick us up (only 30 mins) - may be because of the location of our air bnb and in combination to the changing of road directions (yup I guess roads were changed to opposite one ways) so there was traffic chaos each morning.
All in all I would recommend if you have limited time, elderly parents who cannot walk too much, and don't want to brave driving the tiny cobble stone streets that barely fit a car. yup they are manual shifting while traveling up and down roads throughout Porto - it was quite an experience but not madness we wanted to do ourself :)
Porto Combo: Porto City Tour, Aveiro, Costa Nova, Douro, Braga and Guimaraes
, 6 2018
All three trips were wonderful, especially for those travelers who do not want to drive a car.
In a short time you can visit the most famous places in the north of Portugal.
Thanks especially to our guides / drivers.
We both (my sister and I) enjoyed everything.
Thank you and I would it recommend to everyone :-)
We enjoyed an awesome three day tour of Porto and the surrounding cities of Braga, Guimaraes, Aveiro, and the Douro Valley. The three days were so enjoyable because of our tour guide, Milena, who works with Meridian 4people. She has such a wealth of historical knowledge and her personable presentations were delightful. The tour exceeded our expectations in terms of travel comfort, knowledge gained, introductions to area foods and wines, and impressive cultural structures. As outlined in the promotion package, the tour offered a good variety of places to visit such as wine cellars, cathedrals, terraced landscapes, medieval castles, etc. This is a very worthwhile package if you wish to see all the highlights of the region in a short period of time.
