This tour was a great last minute option for us as it provided for everything end to end. From the minute we left our Pune hotel to the minute we arrived back we were guided - except obviously on the airplane. The pick up in Delhi airport was waiting and Prem our driver gave us a fantastic welcome, including flower leis and snacks for the road trip to Agra including beers and water. Our tour guide Mahesh joined us in Agra and the he provided a very detailed knowledge and understanding of the Taj and its history. Starting early the next day made all the difference particularly with the crowds. He has a real passion for the city and being a local and part of the culture makes a difference. The shopping was good as well and it gives you the opportunity to experience some of the history of the arts and crafts of that era. Just be weary that if you express the least bit of interest in an item the sales men willl force it on you. Dont be afraid to force a haggle. One item went from 2400 to 1000 and you can potentially go lower buy walking away. All in all it is a very efficient, easy and safe way to get around Agra. On the way back as we wanted to visit a few places in Delhi the guide was ok for us to get lunch on the go from anywhere included in the trip so we could do that which is the part of the beauty and flexibility of the Indian people. Pick up from the hotel a bit earlier in Pune would have seen us be able to factor in a few other things into Delhi or relax a bit more when we arrived in Agra. Be prepared for a very active 48 hours but well worth the trip. Even Raj, the travel coordinator kept tabs on us the whole way via WhatsApp making sure we arrived after flights and to hotels every step of the way. He was also in constant contact with the tour guide and driver making sure everything was fine all the way to arrival back at your Pune hotel. Thanks Raj, Mahesh and Prem we had a great time and look forward to the next experience.
The tour was well worth the money. We started with the flight from Pune to Delhi, met our driver who was very easy to find and friendly. We wanted to see a couple of sites in Delhi before making the 3 1/2 hr drive to Agra, our driver was very accommodating and waited for us while we went to visit Akshardham temple a must visit! We did miss out on the moonlight tour but the temple was fantastic. Hotel was very nice, everyone very welcoming and close to the Taj Mahal which was a bonus. We met with our tour guide Rajesh who was lovely. Next morning we arrived at the Taj Mahal by 5:15am for sunrise viewing, but well worth the very early start as there were not many people and you could get some great shots. Such a spectacular place and Rajesh gave us an indepth history of the monument and it's surrounds. Back to the hotel for breakfast and then we went to see some of the local handicrafts that included tapestries, marble carving with inlay of semi-precious stones and rug making, all interesting to see. Next we went to Agra Fort, which is also steeped in history and our guide again provided in-depth knowledge. Lunch was provided at a local restaurant which was good then to a clothing store. After this our driver made the 3 1/2 journey back to Delhi for our flight back to Pune. Two suggestions would be, try and get an earlier flight from Pune to Delhi as this will allow you some time for quick sightseeing in Delhi. The other suggestion is to ensure the local travel company to provide the itinerary and details a couple of days before. I also had to follow up a few times to get the information.
Would like to make a special mention to Rajesh for his passion about Agra, and the sights. Very knowledgeable.
Other than that was a great weekend seeing one of the seven wonders of the world. Thank you.
The tour was well organized all the way from Pune to Delhi and back to Pune. The local tour agent Mr Raj Sharma's replies were always very Prompt. The duration of the tour was just right.
The flight that they agency arranged were at wee hours - 5am depart Pune and 2240pm depart Delhi. The timing could be improve.
The shops that the local guide brought us were expensive, should consider bringing us to local shops instead.
Overall, the experience was good. Would recommend this tour for those who want to see the Taj Mahal from Pune.
