It was a little disappointing, First they do not say it is an almost 3 hr trip to the boat. The boat was not what we were expecting either, Talk about a full boat! Whew! then come to find out that there was a horseback riding part of this, which was never explained in the description of the excursion. We both have had surgeries, where horseback riding is a no-no, so we had to stay on the island for 5 hours while the others went horseback riding. The island was beautiful and there was a bar and some food, so that was good. It did pour rain for 2 hours or more, but that is Mother nature. But we had to ride back to the mainland in the pouring rain, which was very scary as the boat was very very packed. The crew had rain coats, but still sent my better half to sit in the front with no cover and no offer of one of their raincoats, Oh yeah! the whale watching was minimal, whales were there, but too many people on boat and standing up to see, so we couldn't see very much. Will not go with this company anymore. Need more details in their descriptions of excursions. Did meet a fantastic lady from England though,
We were a little worried about rain on the day we went, but that turned out to be nothing compared to the the waves breaking over the sides of the boat. The boat was small and seemed to take on more water than the larger boats. We saw a Humpback Whale calf that entertained us for about 20 minutes, by popping up out of the water and laying on its side to view the boats. The mother swam smoothly beside it, quite close to the waters surface. The guided horse tour to the waterfall was also great fun and so beautiful. The local guides were very skilled and helpful at naming the vegetation. We sampled specialties of the Dominican Republic and had a very tasty buffet lunch.
the good news is that we saw a whale watching part of the trip. The bad news is that the travel company and especially the tour guide were so inept that that they put us on the wrong trip. They called us 5 minutes before hotel pickup and said they were not going to pick us up and to take a taxi to another hotel there were several buses and I handed my papers to a tour guide who said later that he knew I was not on his list but put on his bus anyway. in the nest 12 hours we were on three different vehicles and three different boats, he never gave us stickers or took a head count We traveled for two hours with no bathroom break, and then went to a marina with no facilities and when asked about them he said they were on the boast and proceeded to direct me to a boat with no restroom. After we finished the whale watching no whale expert was on the boat as the trip details said we went to an island to have lunch. we were then told there was no lunch but one glass of beer and then we were to go to another island to have lunch and go horseback riding. Our trip did not call for horseback riding. It was clear then that he had put us on wrong trip. When we told him he just shrugged his shoulders and said to get on the boat. We then went o the other side of the bay and sat in an old cigar factory for 4 hours as the rest of the party went horseback riding in the pouring rain. It was then that he told us that he noticed we were not on his list when we checked in. all in all a miserable afternoon. Fortunately Viator took care of us when we reported the mix up by the tour agent
