This was a unique experience that no one should pass up. You visit three different homes on the island and hear the stories of the local families and tribal traditions. It costs about 50USD for the ride, food, stories and the chance to see the locals just as they are. I probably would not recommend it for kids under 12 or so.
It being my 2nd Progressive Dinner Tour on Rarotonga I had a fair idea how they worked. This one was not a disappointment. The information provided by the local hosts enlightened us about early Cook Islands through to current times on subjects such as selecting their Representatives for Local Government and Rules for Land Ownership.
This is genuinely a local experience where you get to meet the hosts and share a meal with them. A unique experience of how the locals really live with a few of their stories thrown in for good measure.
This is a great way to meet some of the local families and learn a bit about the cultural side of Rarotonga. Enjoyed the food and the whole experience and would recommend this tour to anyone going to Rarotonga for the first time.
Awesome! highlight of our trip. If you are in to learning about local culture, history and food then this is a must do experience. The food and the hosts were absolutely Awesome!!! Would give this one more stars if they were available!
This tour gave such an aweome insight into the everyday life of cook islanders. It was so nice to sit down with local families and share a delicious meal! The food on this tour was amazing!! Loved every second of this tour!!
It was a delightful evening when a few of the local people open up their homes and share who they are and some insight in to their lives the food they eat. It was a lot of fun and also great too meet some of the other tourists from around the world.
A definite must! Very relaxing and informative visit with three different families who open their homes to us. They discuss their family history and how they possessed the land they live on. Oh yea, and they also share a native meal with us. The first family serves an appetizer which could have been a meal in itself, the second the actual meal, and the third dessert. A very enjoyable 3.5 hours.
