SO COLD (for me, at least) but so fun! There were some errors with miscommunication once we got to Landmannalauger which made it so that most of our group missed out on going in the hot spring. I was actually really bummed out about that, but it certainly didn't ruin the day. Bring layers though!
This place was unbelievable you have to see with your eyes to believe this majestic natural landscape. The tour was amazing, with the superb tour guide. She explained everything so detail, which is so good. Along the way, the guide makes several stops such as hidden waterfalls and so on. And when you arrive in Landmannalauger, you can choose whether to hike to see the amazing rainbow mountain or just relax and take a dip in natural hot spring area. I would highly recommend to all of you to hike around 1.5 hour - 2 hour and see how great the layers of lava create the landscapes.
It was as the guide himself said a strange day. As a teacher I sympathised with him: a group of Chinese girls talked over him during his attempts to explain what we were seeing and he lost his temper - quite justifiably. Unfortinately he appeared to blame everyone on the bus when everyone else was actually listening and interested - and were as annoyed by the disrespect shown by the girls as he was. It reminded me of the awkwardness fekt when everyone is made to feel guilty because of one person's misdemeanours. Apart from that the trip packs in a lot: 2 waterfalls, a boat trip on the ice lagoon pretty cool, the black volcanic beach at Vik and a couple of comfort stops. The ice lagoon is the obvious highlight and it is quite a long drive to get there so you'll need to be ready for a 7am start and a 9.30-10pm return to Reykjavik.
Just a full day is spectacular scenery.
A great funny guide.
The hike was solid but good fun.
The colors of the mountains have to be seen to be believed
Fantastic Tour! We had 5 day trips during our stay in Iceland and this one was the best! Landmannalaugar is definitely the most amazing a MUST-SEE! place in Iceland and we enjoyed the 4 hours we had there so much! Even the long road to Landmannalaugar was enjoyable, wonderful landscapes and in some places the surface was just like on the moon! You have to see this!
