This was the highlight of our holiday in Rome. On a freezing January morning she did a great job keeping our 8,7 and 3 year olds engaged in the tour. Every time she detected their interest going down she pulled out another activity, video on the iPad, a picture or interesting fact that got kids and adults going! She was very enthusiastic, extremely knowledgeable, patient and flexible. Absolutely loved the tour! Thank you Alessandra!
Martina was an excellent guide and very good at involving the children while also providing more details for the parents. Kids loved the scavenger hunt at the Forum. Tip - you have to go through security 2 times. Best to put everything metal in your bag to speed up the line. The website says backpacks are not allowed, though no one stopped one gentleman in our group who had one. There is also a bathroom after you enter the Colosseum, good idea to stop there first (the line was long but it moved fast), especially if touring with kids. Lots of stairs but there is an elevator. We actually saw many strollers there!
We booked this fabulous trip and were not disappointed. There were just three families and the children all got on so well! Francesca, our very knowledgeable guide, made it great fun. She had the children competing against the parents to gain points, which we all enjoyed! The tour was pitched perfectly and we all came away having learned masses. It was very busy, but we didn't have to wait too long which was great. I would really recommend this brilliant tour.
This was a fantastic experience. It was about one year ago today that we did this tour.
We were travelling with our 9 year old daughter and she still talks about this day!
First of all, we were late arriving and in full panic mode! And to top it off we couldn't find our guide outside the metro stop which was very busy. But we started asking other guides if they new her. Finally we found her! She was with the other family from Australia that would make up our group for the afternoon. They had a little girl our daughter's age and a little boy. We didn't know what to expect except for what we read in the description and reviews provided on this website.
WOW! Were we blown away! Our guide was incredible! Upon arrival at the Colosseum she handed each child a clip board and then explained to them that they would be collecting information over the next few hours and being quizzed, and based on their score on the quiz earning points towards prizes! Well, the kids were happy to say the least! Over the course of the afternoon they learned tonnes of history and won tonnes of prizes! Our guide had so much information to tell us and kept it all very interesting, even the kids were engaged throughout the whole afternoon.
The Roman Forum was great as well. Lots of cool history and again, she kept all of us totally engaged. She was supposed to wrap up the tour around 4:30PM and she didn't leave us until about 6:30PM. She really had a lot of great knowledge and all of us adults were so impressed with the way she was able to hold all of our attention. At no time did I think... I wish this was over.....
i would highly recommend this tour to anyone of any age. Lots of great info. An experience you won't soon forget!
Alessandra went WAY above and beyond to ensure my family had the most outstanding tour of the Colosseum. She was patient and kind with the kids and kept the information interesting for everyone in our tour. We were only with 1 other family which made it very easy to stay together and to always hear what was going on. Alessandra is amazing and we highly recommend this tour!!!
This was a tour we scheduled for our 5 and 8 year old daughters. Alessandra was kind and patient and kept the kids entertained with stories about the history of the Colosseum and the Forum. There was plenty for adults to learn as well. It was the perfect amount of time and on the flight home our 8 year old said it was the highlight of our week in Italy. It was really hot and Alessandra made sure we found shade, water and the pace/tempo of the tour kept moving but with plenty of time to rest and take pictures. We had two other families with us and it was fun for our daughters to meet kids from other countries and have fun with them in these amazing ancient sites.
Overall this was exactly what we had hoped it would be....a great history lesson, geared towards our daughters but engaging and fun for our whole family. Plus, just to skip the lines and not have to wait was worth the price.
