Diego, my guide, was so knowledgeable about ancient Roman history. I had a million questions because his sharings further sparked my curiosity, and he had answers to it all. I especially appreciate that he intentionally ended our tour on our day (March 15) at the spot and time where a historical recreation of the Ides of Rome would be held. What an incredible day!
Julio Tour guide was very passioite about tour area he was explaining to us. Always asked if there was more questions and kept telling interesting information and facts about Colesium, Forum and hill.. Would highly reccoment Julio as a tour guide. We took the suggestion of another reviewer and tokk a cab to the meeting place, I am not sure with out a lot of walking around we would have found it
Dennis was a great tour guide on a cold and overcast day in Rome. He kept our group of 24 engaged and entertained throughout the tour. He taught us some facts that we keep talking about even 2 weeks later! The tour also allowed us to enter the gladiator’s gate in the Colosseum which was a pleasant surprise. Highly recommend this for all visitors to Rome. Thank you so much!
We took a taxi to the meeting location because we never would have found it on our own. Once there, eight of us we were given headsets and a tour guide. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about Roman history and the ancient sites we visited. It was an absolute must to have a "skip-the-line" excursions as there were hundreds of people in line to visit the Colosseum. Once in, we were able to view this remarkable ancient ruin and marvel at the complexity of a facility so old. We then viewed other ancient ruins in the area and finished on Palatine Hill with a great over view of Rome.
Renata was very personable and provided a lot of information. However the earphone and microphone system was terrible. The area is crowded and noisy of course. However, the system they use cannot be heard over the background noise. Also the guides English was unclear. She also lost some of her group and seemed unconcerned when THEY found her.
It was our forst time in Italy and in Rome. Being on a cruise ship, we didn't have much time, and decided to focus on one thing - the Colosseum (since Vatican museums etc were closed on Sunday). The tour was amazing. A little slow to get started - possibly the formalities could have been done more quickly or even ahead of time. The tour guide was an art historian and knew a lot about the history and details, plus she had a very engaging style. THe teenagers enjoyed it, so I think that say it all right there! Highly recommended.
Our guide Sylvia deserves a medal! The day was cold and drizzling but Sylvia’s love of her city kept us too interested to worry! She loved all our questions, has a great sense of humour, and we really knew we were walking through time. The Colosseum is amazing, the Forum is mind blowing, especially learning how deep down the excavations are.
