The guide Tatyana is a very fine sensitive lady but definitely needs training in being flexible. Her lack of attention to whether the guests have understood her knowledge of any historical occurrences was minimum. Ulko Tours & Viator failed miserably to treat their clients nicely who spent so much money to see the beautiful city of St Petersburg. The passengers at the back seat could not hear her at all for which we requested to turn on the volume of her microphone but the driver said that this is the optimum level of sound. We gave it up.The included lunch was in a substandard serviced restaurant where we felt unwelcome. We asked for Chilli Flakes which the waiter said will bring but later the owner said it is going to cost us US $2/-....Really??For those of you who are contemplating going on small group tours, we would recommend either a solo guide or going with a bigger group. Our experience with this tour company was not so good.
Tour was informative, and jam packed. Sites visited were very large sites and required a lot of time to fully enjoy and take in. The schedule was so accelerated that many areas were skimmed over without an opportunity to fully enjoy. Tour guide was courteous and knowledgeable and very nationalistic which I probably should have expected. But overall we did get to see a little bit of everything. The owner of the tour company was very helpful prior to my trip by helping me to correct several errors that i made on my tour ticket application, which could have prevented my participation in the tour had she not become involved. My thanks to her!
This was a great tour, made wonderful nearly 100 by the tour guide herself. I'd say outside of the guide, the tour would have been average. But with the particular guide we had, the tour was truly exceptional and will be a memory for life.
In my opinion, skip the Faberge Museum and buy the cheaper tour. The museum had only perhaps a dozen eggs, and a few rooms of other things, not entirely interesting. The non-Faberge parts of the tour were fabulous. The Heritage Museum is overcrowded, but any tour you schedule will hit that problem.
