Kate is an enthusiastic and professional tour guide. Four of us toured with Kate and driver. The tour focused on food and culture. Our first stop was at a fishing wharf where we saw fish, clams, scallops, crabs, etc being kept live for sale. The wharf area was interesting as was the scenery of the fishing boats. Our next stop was the city market where produce and meat are sold. It was tidy and interesting as such markets generally are. We visited on a holiday so the cultural area was crowded with local people having a good time. Here we sampled a rice cake with sweet topping. Next was food street where we had lunch in a private room. We all chose dishes from a picture menu so had a good variety of Chinese foods. Food street was so interesting that we asked Kate to change our itinerary so that we stayed there longer looking at the variety of foods and the people lining up to sample them. Kate was very accommodating in changing the itinerary to match our interests.
I recommend this tour. Please understand that this tour , while focused on food, isn't the typical taste a bit here, taste a bit there type of tour. Not a criticism just describing the planning. We certainly had plenty to eat and gained a appreciation for Tianjin.
