Andy our tour guide was amazing. Very knowledgeable, passionate and friendly. The tour of the city was beautiful and the food was so tasty. In fact, we went back and ate in one of those places. I highly
recommend you to book this tour, you will not regret it. Thank you Andy for a great tour.
The positives are that the guide was extremely enthusiastic and knowledgable about the city and gave us many interesting insights and we enjoyed the stop at the pub for a six ounce beer sample and the meatball from the Victoria Marketplace. Unfortunately though, what was advertised as a food tour that would provide enough samplings to equal a meal, did not. To make matters worse, and what still has me perplexed, what seemed like nearly half of our food tour stops were to places that provided free samples to all customers.
Our family has been on many food tours in the past, with the best being a food tour of London, and unfortunately, this one fell way short. On previous tours, you received a full sampling at each of the highlighted stops for example, in London when we stopped at the city's most notable bagel shop, each tour guest received a full bagel to try, not a crumb on a tray that was being handed out to every person that walked in the store.
With this Victoria tour, the biggest letdown for me was the final stop of this tour, at a chocolate shop that sends vanilla creams to the Queen and we were given the hype of these chocolates on the walk to the shop but once inside, we were greeted by a worker with a tray with tiny bite samples of some sort of raspberry chocolate on it that she was handing to anyone that walked into the store. After a frantic grab of many other people, in addition to the eight of us on our tour, our tour guide said okay, let's go. We walked out and I said to my family, is he kidding...was that the sampling at this shop? Seriously, it would have been extremely appropriate for each of us in our group to have been given a piece of the vanilla cremes that are famous in this city to try. So add this chocolate sampling with the others that even included free oil samples from a lovely oil shop to anyone that walked in, and you can start to see my disappoint.
Needless to say, when this tour was over, we had to make a stop to supplement our still hungry older teenage sons! But to end on a positive, I want to reiterate, that the tour guide was very friendly and informed, and is on to what could honestly be, a great tour with a little tweaking.
