This was a long day trip from Hurghada but well worth it. Guide (Mohammed) was excellant and gave us just the right level of information at each of the places we visited. We also had some time to explore on our own. The lunch and setting was lovely and we enjoyed the boat trip on the Nile. The guide also took some pictures for us so we had some photos with us both in. We felt safe at all times during the trip and were escorted through all the bazaars so didn't feel pressured at all. Unfortunatley the car we were in had a mechanical fault which meant the day was much longer than planned however we were well looked after and the tour provider compensated us for this on our return. December was a great time to do this excursion as the weather was not to hot and the sights were not busy.

Not to be missed, our tour guide was very knowledgeable and spoke good English and explained everything in great detail, also our driver was very friendly and made the long trip most enjoyable. All in all a great experience

Summary: A great trip with a very knowledgable guide, be aware it's a very long day with long travel times 4 hours of quite scary driving each way - although we took our 11 and 5 year olds they really struggled towards the end with the travelling and the heat much hotter than Hurghada, to the point we decided to skip the trip on the Nile as it would have been too much for them. Food was excellent but limited choice chicken, beef or fish so be aware if you have fussy eaters! Worst features are the toilets - not particularly clean and you had to pay 2 each at Karnak as well as pushy bazaars at the entrance to each temple.

Would we recommend the trip - definitely but you must accept the toilet facilities are generally poor and you will have to pay it's hot I mean really hot and you will spend a good 8-9 hours driving!

We were picked on time at our hotel in a modern clean minivan with a friendly driver who spoke some english. The journey to Luxor was initially very smooth on well paved modern roads through the desert/mountains with fantastic views. There are however a number of security checkpoints complete with armed guards to break up the flow. Traffic laws in Egypt are 'interesting' with lane discipline clearly optional so it's quite an 'exciting' journey! We stopped after about 1.5hrs at a small coffee shop with a few market stalls attached, there were reasonable toilets tipping clearly expected to use them and the ability to buy snacks/drinks at fairly reasonable prices. This stop lasted abut 30mins and there were a number of other minivans and coaches arriving during the time we were there.
The journey then continues in a similar vein until you reach the first city Qena where the roads become more congested and the standard of driving more questionable with donkeys, carts, pedestrians, cars, lorries and coaches all involved in a battle for the fastest route! The area is a stark contrast to the resorts of Hurghada with the poverty of the area becoming more apparent.
Travelling into Luxor we picked up Abdul Ahmed our guide and headed to the Valley of the kings. The first thing we found out was to stick with the guide through the Bazaar you had to walk through on entry and exit of the valley. This was an amazing experience but due to a break down in communications we left cameras on the bus as instructed however, you could buy a photography license for 300LE to allow photography. The tombs were spectacular, 3 are included in the trip and you can pay to enter more including Tutankhamun's we decided not to pay the extra as each tomb was similar with little left inside apart from the decorations. The facilities at the Valley of the kings were barely acceptable and once again a tip was required to use them.
The next stop was at one of the many Alabaster factories close to the valley of the kings, we were given a demonstration of how the products were made before being given soft drinks inside the shop and the ability to use the SPOTLESS toilets. Be careful in the shop as there are no prices given until you have selected any goods and let me assure you while they were amazing they were not cheap. It's worth noting this stop was not in the itinerary and was a way to try to get you to purchase from the shop, personally we didn't mind the intrusion and the shop staff were friendly and polite without being pushy but we did buy a fair amount of products so be aware it may be different if you don't!
Next we headed to the Temple of Hatshepsut again an amazing spectacle but with dubious facilities again a cost to use the toilets and my god was it hot! The same Bazaar was evident on the entrance/exit and you were pestered despite the best efforts of our guide to deflect the sellers. It was at this point we found out that the Island restaurant did not have chicken so we opted for the in town option as the kids were more likely to eat!
Lunch was good with an Egyptian Mezze, soup and grilled chicken on the menu, food was well prepared and very tasty and the restaurant itself clean and tidy.
Next up is Karnak which was probably our favourite part of the trip with an amazing temple and history. At this point however we decided to cancel the boat trip on the Nile it appeared we were due a motorboat trip not a Felluca. Throughout our guide was knowledgeable and informative if possibly slightly too detailed for the children and was helpful in catering for our needs as a group.
The trip home was similar to the trip out but is anything even faster and under cover of darkness - which I'm not sure if it made it more or less scary!

Fantastic tour - seeing 3 of the tombs at the Valley of the Kings as well as Hatshepsut Temple but the absolute highlight was Karnak Temple - just unfortunate we couldn't spend longer at Karnak. Our guide, Mohammad, was fantastic, so knowledgeable and great at answering all of our questions, even from the kids. Food for lunch was average. The only drawback was the driving - our drivers travelled at 130km/hr for much of the trip and tailgated so much and also used their mobile phones while driving - certainly didn't feel safe - and they didn't really adjust when we asked them to slow down and not follow so closely.

Absolutely fantastic tour, unbelievable spectacles throughout the day, tour guide Mohammed was brilliant, very knowledgable and always kept on advising us to ensure we took on enough water as there is obviously very little shade at the valley and at Hatshepsut Temple. If you are going to Egypt you simply MUST take this tour. You do not see history like this lying on a sun bed by the side of a hotel pool. We cannot recommend this trip enough.

Great guide and amazing sights but the drive there is way too long 4 hours with that crazy traffic and all those security check points. I would've preferred to fly there.

Absolutely Fabulous! Starting with the journey, we were picked up by Mahmoud who was a wonderful driver and the minivan was clean, comfortable and cool. A good and safe journey with a short stop en route to stretch our legs, we picked up our guide Omar Khalifa upon arrival in Luxur. Omar was brilliant, excellent English, very professional and extremely knowledgeable about the history of Luxur. Lunch was delicious at at an authentic rooftop restaurant with a view of the Nile. Overall, it was a long day but thoroughly worth every penny especially the private tour as you have guide and driver to yourself. I would highly recommend this trip.
