Highlight of our holiday! The camel rides, and watching the sun fall and rise across the dunes were an incredible experience! Our driver and guide Khalid was amazing! His friendly and helpful self made the long journey easy-going and we made lots of interesting stops along the way. If you have never been to the desert, this is a fantastic way to experience it!
I recently went on this tour with a friend, we booked everything last minute, but didn't regret a thing. This tour was a highlight of our trip. Our tour guide Khalid was a super calm, friendly, a can do person. His English is superb!! We had a very mixed International group of 8 people who were also very cool, so we had a good crowd to spend our 3 days with :-
Khalid was informative, assertive and did everything in his power to make sure we had a great time bear in mind it was Ramadan.
We stayed in an Authentic accommodation on both evenings, had good quality food, all in all an authentic and great sight seeing trip.
The Camel ride and night in the dessert under the stars with local music group is a night to remember.
This was the absolute highlight of our trip to Morocco, a great adventure which we were privileged to share with our guide Mohammed 1, and our driver, Mohammed 2. We were picked up in a mini bus in the main square and were in a group of nine travellers. This turned out to be a plus as we were different ages and nationalities, making it a diverse and fun group, and Mohammed 1 set about drawing us all together. As we travelled along he told highly detailed stories about the places, culture, people and customs, interspersed with little jokes and even riddles! The first day we visited Ait Benhaddou and the Rose Valley. On arrival at the hotel which exceeded our expectations, he arranged for a few local teenagers to take us on a walk around the area where we explored abandoned Kasbahs. Dinner was a traditional tagine, and afterwards the two Mohammeds and some of the hotel staff became singers and drummers whilst we joined in and danced, a great evening and a lot of fun.
On Day 2 we visited the Todra Gorge before continuing towards the desert. There were always sufficient stops for food and drink and comfort breaks. You HAVE to try Berber pizza, it's amazing! At a hotel at the edge of the desert we repacked what we needed in a small rucksack for overnight, mounted our camels and were off into the dunes. By the way, wait for the camel guide to tell you when to mount, as if you get on in the wrong order, the camels will all stand up at the wrong moment - we saw this happen in another group! We rode for about an hour or so, being led by our two camel guides until we reached the camp. We had our own little room and there was a mini toilet block with a light!, you don't need to leave the camp in the night.
After watching the sunset we had a late dinner followed by more drumming around a camp fire. With no light pollution, looking up at the stars is like being in a planetarium, absolutely magical. We slept surprisingly well but were up very early to watch the sunrise. Take a thick sweater, it's cold, but the effort is well worth it for the best moment you will ever have of watching the sun rise up over the red dunes.
We trekked back to the hotel at the edge of the desert for breakfast and then it was all the way back to Marrakech. In all honesty, I wish we'd been able to break this up as it was a really long day in the mini bus, and about half of it is on winding mountain roads with a sheer drop. It's not for the faint-hearted. But we're still riding on a cloud after this trip. days after getting home. Thank you Mohammed 1 and Mohammed 2 for the best ever experience which we will always remember.
amazing tour, our guide Abdul and his driver were amazing and accommodating. This was definitely one of the highlights of the trip. We were even upgraded during our Desert camel experience, where you stay in a hut/tent in the desert - we were upgraded to the rooms which had bathrooms included! It was amazing! My only advice is that option should be standard! the extra 40 euro's/ person is well worth it!
We absolutely loved this tour. We were fortunate to have been paid with another couple of similar age, just four of us on the tour. The two guides, Abdou main tour guide and Hamed the driver were absolutely amazing. They did a fantastic job of making us feel at home. We read other reviews that discussed how much driving their is, but that what it takes to visit these far off locations. The highlight is the overnight stay in the desert. We've never seen so many stars and the accommodations were very comfortable, definitely high-end camping.
