Everglades Airboat Tour met vervoer vanuit Miami

Unorganized, unprofessional, and not as advertised. Transportation to the Everglades took well over 2 hours and involved driving all around Miami Beach, a temporary pit stop at a random hotel lobby to wait for another van due to overcrowding, and a poorly functioning van that wouldn't shift from 2nd to 3rd gear for a period of time and lacked operational doors and locks. Once to the Everglades, which mind you is not Everglades National Park but an area north of that on an Indian reservation, we were corralled like cattle to get on the air boat. Outside bathrooms were not functioning. The airboat ride was the best part - the captains are well experienced and do their best to put you near wildlife. But the boat was nearly fully enclosed roof above you, which was not what we requested and thought was confirmed by Viator staff. There are dozens of other boats out so it really feels more like a man-made amusement. However, the worst part of the ordeal was a lack of clarity with the timing. We thought we booked a half day 4 hour trip and would return around 1pm. Due to the long travel time to the Everglades and wait times once we were there, we barely finished with the airboat by 1pm. Fearing that we would miss our departing flight later that evening, we opted to bail on the second half of the tour a wildlife show and grab an Uber for transport back to our hotel. Our tour guide/driver could not be trusted to return us in time.

Overall, it was a disappointing experience on multiple fronts and I would not recommend to anyone. One is better off supplying their own transportation rental car, uber, lyft, etc. and going to the airboat docks on their own watch. Probably cheaper this route too.

The Everglades were well worth the trip, but the tour didnt pick us up at the hotel until 9:30, and we did a milk run around Miami for an hour picking up other tourists before we headed out, Because we had a cruise that day, I had asked specifically what time we would be back at the hotel when I confirmed and was told 1:00 however, when we got on the highway we were told we wouldnt leave the Park until 1:15. With the drive back to Miami and another milk run, I thought we may not be back at our hotel until around 3:00. So we did the first half of the excursion, the air boat ride, and then I had to call an Uber to get us back to Miami on time. Tour operator was not running the tour on time and was not honest about the timing.

Leider kann ich diese Tour nicht weiterempfehlen:
Man sollte sich mindestens 24 Stunden vorher telefonisch melden um die Buchung zu bestätigen. Ich musste insgesamt 8 Mal probieren bevor ich jemanden erreichen konnte - was natürlich nicht sehr bequem ist, da ich ja nicht mit meinem
deutschen Handynetz ins Amerikanische anrufen wollte und somit jedesmal im Hotel oder sonst wo nach einem Telefon fragen musste.
Als ich dann endlich jemanden erreichte, wurde uns mitgeteilt, dass die Tour nicht wie gebucht um 9 Uhr sondern erst um 11 Uhr stattfindet, was uns unsere ganze Tagesplanung durcheinander brachte. Zudem wurden wir nicht wie angegeben von unserem Hotel abgeholt, sondern mussten ganz nach Norden von Miami Beach zu einem anderen Hotel fahren...
Die Busfahrt selbst war dann ganz angenehm. Allerdings stellte sich heraus, dass es sich bei dieser Tour einzig und allein um einen Transfer zum Gator Land handelte. Hätte ich das gewusst, wären wir natürlich auf eigene Faust dorthin gefahren und wären somit um einiges billiger abgekommen.
Dort einmal angekommen war alles nach unseren Vorstellungen. Eine tolle kurzweilige Bootstour, eine Vorführung mit vielen Facts rund um die Everglades und ihre Bewohner und anschließend etwas Zeit um sich bei den Gehegen umzusehen.
Die Fahrt retour war dann etwas schräg. Der Busfahrer schwafelte die ganze Zeit über die Miccosukee Indianer, und wie ungerecht hoch ihre Entschädigungen durch die Regierung wären. Dann zeigte er uns ein Video, wo ein Mann von einem Alligator gebissen wurde. Zum Abschluss gab er noch ein Buch herum, das er über sich selbst geschrieben hat und uns zum Kauf anbot.
Zusammenfassend wie gesagt: Ich würde die Tour so nicht mehr buchen, sondern wenn dann direkt zum Gator Land fahren...

Wir buchten einen deutschsprachigen Reiseguide und er konnte perfekt deutsch.Unser Guide hat uns einen traumhaften Trip beschert. Kompetentes Wissen hat er uns vermittelt. Er sorgte dafür, dass wir im
Airboot in der vordersten Reihe sitzten konnten - ein absolutes Highlight um Fotos zu machen. Er gab uns überall soviel Zeit wie
wir brauchten, um in Ruhe Fotos zu machen. Es war absolut genial !!

Durch die Führung unseres Guides Anthony hat man auch sehr gute Einblicke in den Background von Miami bzw. Florida bekommen. D.h. die sozialen Verhältnisse dort, Einblicke in das Leben der Indianer in den Everglades und die Natur in diesem Schutzgebiet.. Auch hat man in der Alligatorfarm etwas mehr über die interessanten Tiere erfahren können. Auf jeden Fall empfehlenswert.

Die Airboat Tour könnte etwas länger sein und leider sah man auch nicht viele Alligatoren. Allerdings hatte unser Reiseführer und Busfahrer José Costa ein Exil-Kubaner, er spricht sehr gut deutsch Interessantes über Miami und die Geschichte zu berichten. Die Abholung vom Hotel und der Transfer haben pünktlich stattgefunden.
