thanks for taking the time to write us your feedback.
We appreciate it immensely!
The Aurora intensity is something that changes day by day and within the same day it can increase or decrease in a matter of minutes.
We can see great sharp green Auroras in Tromsø as long as the solar activity is high enough to present a vibrant intense Aurora display. We believe that the night you were out the solar activity was not extremely high and the moon was in its last quarter, giving a brighter sky background and therefore dimming the outcome of eye visibility.
In that case the cameras might gather much more light than the human eye since they are designed specifically for that.
We are sorry that you experienced our tour on a night with low solar activity and that you consider the price of our photographer pictures not budget enough.
In this regard we would like to specify that a photo service in the arctic outdoors is not a budget product.
We offer a well designed professional tour with very high success rate in sighting Northern Lights at a budget rate but the photographic service is a non binding extra service that has set rates. It remains an option that our guest are completely free to not use, actually guests are allowed to ask for picture and decide afterwards.
The rates for photo services in norway are extremely high because the cost of living are high the salary per hour of a professional photographer is standardized on national rates for freelancing professions, in our particular case they work night shift and they might end up spending approximately 15 minutes per picture in post editing without any guarantee of selling their work. That makes the price per unit as high as the quality delivered.
We believe they are entitled to have an income for their creative work and we provide all the guest the choice of relying on such service if needed and welcomed.
