The tour guide was very knowledgeable but at times hard to hear above the masses of tourists at the places we went to! You get a fair bit of time to stroll around - roughly half an hour at the Parthenon, and then a fair bit of time strolling around the museum too.

Delphi Day Trip from Athens

Delphi, Greece

My Rating
3 star rating: Worth doing

My Review

Decent trip. The only thing that made it not great was when the tour guide collected the tickets to head into Delphi, she handed them to the first person who then took one and handed it back and so on, while the tour guide disappeared through the turnstile. Of course, being at the back, there was not enough tickets and we approached the turnstile and were refused entry. The tour guide had disappeared up the slope. We thought she was coming back for us - but nope. Lucky one guy on the other side saw our dilemma and took off after her - but he went the wrong way. It took 15 minutes for someone to find her she didn't seem to realise 5 of her group were stuck outside - and they grabbed the passes and headed down to us, not the tour guide. We finally got entry, and ran up to where she was waiting. She didn't even apologise, and had the spare passes in her pocket. One girl from our group told her there and then how unprofessional it was. This vastly reduced the amount of time we had within the grounds so we had to rush around to see it all. Still an enjoyable trip, but it could have been so much better if the communication and organisation of the tour guide was improved.

My Review

Was quite an interesting tour. Parts of the 9th Ward are still being rebuilt and its crazy to see the water level of how high the storm surge reached. Was quite a reflective tour, and on a hot day the AC in the bus was quite refreshing. The tour guide provided a folio of photographs from the devastation as well as what happened to her house, all quite sobering. Definitely a must-see tour if you are interested on the effects of Katrina.

Not a bad tour - can be quite difficult to hear all the information on the crazy streets that is the night life of New Orleans. My tour guide was Sara run by Tours by Steven and she was amazing and so patient with a group that had turned up a little late and hungover, I might add. She had great poise and conversation and explained everything that was interesting within the cemetery. Even to see Nicholas Cage's crypt is reason enough its quite impressive. It can get quite hot in summer though, and Sara tried to find as much shade as she could be definitely bring water and wear a hat!

This is a great way to get acquainted with the sights of the city at night! Kat was the tour guide and told a lot of good jokes and had interesting stories about the city and its architecture. I did this on my second night of 3 in the city and thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the top deck. You get provided with earphones that work well, as you certainly need them to hear your guide above the rumble of the city traffic!

If you can, make sure you screenshoot the QR code that you get provided with via email, as you'll need this every time you line up for your pre-booked tickets. Be aware - you can't just turn up to the top of the rock unless you're there first thing at 8am - I arrived at 11:45 and the next available group was 12:50 which will vary on the day. Decent tour. We had a small group 6 of us, 3 of which were pretty disrespectful - talking during the tour over the stories the guide was saying, and the oldest even wandered off for 10 minutes and the family lost him. Of course he didn't have a cell phone so the tour was delayed while we searched for him in the park. Nothing against the tour per se, but I felt the guide didn't have a great hold of the group and wasn't very directive. All in all, some fascinating places and stories were seen and told, and I would highly recommend this tour if the guide was more directive. Because of the delay, I had to rush from the tour to the next one statue of liberty evening cruise as we went 20 minutes over from losing the old guy. I'm sure the next tour ran smoothly, its just I had a slight anomaly!

Great cruise! You are presented with amazing views of the Manhattan coastline, finishing with the statue of liberty at the end then cruising around under the Brooklyn bridge. The tour guide had a great ability to tell stories and hold his audience captive, and I was a fan of all the numbers and statistics he was telling us. Both sides of the boat get a good view of the statue - the boat cruises past slowly on its starboard side, then turns around and lets everyone on the left to take snaps so no need to run around the boat! Definitely a great tour to look back on the city. I also didn't think it was required to get off at Liberty Island not on this tour - you get an amazing view of the statue on this tour!

Caught the bus from Stop 1 with no issues - hopped off at stop 6 whale museum and after completing that I waited outside in the snow for the bus to turn up. Was told they were running every half an hour but after waiting 20 minutes after the designated pickup time I was on a strict timeline as I was flying out later I had to walk to the next place of interest - stop 8, which took about half an hour. I realise I could have waited for the next bus but at that stage I had no idea whether one had broken down, or would even turn up so I walked out my frustrations. The audio segment of the tour didn't work either so it was a very quiet bus ride.

Amazing tour! Julia our guide was incredibly informative and gave lots of facts about Iceland, its history and the wonders we saw. All the places listed in this tours are simply a must see! Only problem is that since this tour is so popular, it's a big bus full of people and because of large groups people are normally late back to the bus c'mon guys, time management is NOT hard! which meant we had less time at later places. This tour gets back fairly late from the last waterfall depending on your hotel drop-off - and depending if you have a Northern Lights tour booked that night, you don't have a lot of time to get ready for that one but it is doable!

My Review

I was in Reykjavik for only 3 nights and this tour was canceled the first and third nights due to cloud cover. On the second night we managed to get out to a dark location but there were 6 large buses worth of people in a really small pull-off from the highway. I understand the tour goes to different places every night depending on a few factors ours was chasing the empty sky, there were still a few clouds around but after standing around for an hour a few people managed to catch a glimpse of a green streak. They didn't 'dance or move' according to the guide so she said we could come back again as this glimpse wasn't sufficient. Keep your voucher as it is still valid for 2 years! One important point though - if the tour is canceled due weather, MAKE SURE YOU REBOOK! at the hotel desk, or give them a call - do NOT just turn up thinking you'll be put on the next night's tour automatically - as my hotel told me I would be. I was lucky I was a solo traveler and they could squeeze me on but definitely ensure you lock your place in as this is one of the most popular tours to do! as well as Blue Lagoon - also another must-see

The trolley drivers are full of insights and friendly smiles. A really good way to see Boston in all its glory! Only one small problem which put a sour note on my trip - at the end of my second day I was walking up to stop 15 at 3:55pm you are told to be at the last stop no later than 4:00pm to get picked up and in the snow and rain I saw the trolley drive up I was still 150m away and saw the trolley stop for 30 seconds before departing at 3:56pm. I was then left to walk onwards in the rain, feeling a little sour that the driver didn't wait. To add insult to injury as the driver rounded the corner and I plodded on for a few minutes the bell tower rang, signalling 4:00pm. If the driver actually waited until the promulgated time and if it was a sunny beautiful day I wouldn't have minded this would definitely get 5 stars without a doubt.

Seattle Space Needle Observation Deck Admission

Seattle, United States

My Rating
2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better

My Review

Something that should be noted here is that by purchasing tickets through Viator for a certain day does no mean guarantee you an admission on that day. I had pre-booked my Space Needle ticket 6 weeks in advance, and turned up at 4:30pm on the day to head up - only to be told all remaining slots were sold out and I'd have to return tomorrow. Thats what I did - it opens at 9am and I arrived at 9:20 due traffic - only to be told that the first slot was 12pm. I explored the Chihuly gardens while I waited well worth it - the sculptures are incredible and returned to the space needle lifts at 11:45am. One thing that also isn't mentioned is that it isn't free reign up and down the needle - you have to line up for the lift over a 45 minute wait! before even getting up top. I ended up bailing on the space needle as I was venturing to the museum of flight later that day and didn't want to waste time in lines. My advice is get there early! Or avoid the space needle on weekends/holidays otherwise you will walk away frustrated instead. There was only one poor guy redeeming/selling tickets and that was also a significant wait 20 mins even after purchasing them here first. You can purchase tickets at the bottom - that would save you time sounds weird huh? You would think online would save you time...

Amazing recommendations, well-versed story teller almost as soothing as Morgan Freeman! and I felt I came away from the tour knowing not only lots about Boeing but a plethora of information about Seattle. Eric was my tour guide at the factory - who was incredibly passionate and happily answered all questions. You get about an hour beforehand to have a look at the future of flight exhibit, or head up to the roof to take some photos of the airport, as well as a huge gift shop and cafe. The tour itself is really cool - starts with a 15 minute video, then on to the bus for two stops, at each end of the factory floor. Runs very smoothly. You have about 15 mins upon getting back to grab something from the gift shop. Be aware - even though they say there are heaps of free lockers to utilise before the tour, they run out very quickly on a busy day! So get in early and lock away your valuables can only take a wallet on the tour - nothing electronic
