This was an amazing day and something I would definitely do again - loved it. We had good snorkel gear and wet suits ready to go when we arrived. These creatures are stunningly beautiful and Juan, our guide for the day was great and made sure everyone had what they needed for our trip. We had a really fun group of 11 people and it was fun to meet new people and share videos after our adventure. We had lunch following our snorkeling and no alcohol on this adventure day. The boat crew were attentive and helpful and made sure everyoe was safe im the water only 4 at a time in the water. We had snacks on the way up as it was a very long ride in a nice air conditioned van. We stopped at some great spots including the whale shark museum in LaPaz which was very interesting--La Paz was a very nice and large town to our surprise. We had a short stop at Hotel California in Todos Santos on the way back which was fun as well and long enough to have a drink in the bar or go and get an ice cream across the street. All in all a fabulous day and worth every penny since we didn't have to do the long drive back to Cabo when we were so sleepy after sun and fun all day. I will do this again on my next visit for sure!

This was a waste of time and money. Our original encounter was scheduled for Dec 27th, but was cancelled due to windy weather conditions. It was re-scheduled for Friday, Dec 30th. It was still windy and we called to confirm that the encounter was still on and were told that La Paz was two hours away from our hotel and that the weather there was fine. The van picked us up at 6:55 am and it took 3 hours not 2 to get to La Paz. We were put on a boat with 9 other people and told that only 5 people could join the tour guide in the water at a time. The tour guide also stated that she was surprised that the encounter was not cancelled because the weather was not good for the whale watching encounter but that we would go out anyway. We spent about 20 minutes before we saw the first whale shark fin. It was decided that a family of 5 would go first leaving my wife, myself and a father and son in the boat to watch. Three of the family members got about a 5 second view of the whale shark before it disappeared. They were in the water about 5 minutes and told to get back in the boat. We spent about another 1/2 hour trying to find another whale shark without any luck before a young boy with the family of 5 got sick and fainted. The encounter was terminated immediately, as it should have been, and the boy was rushed back to shore and a doctor. We saw only one whale shark fin and never got in the water for an encounter. It was after 6 pm when we got back to our hotel, which meant were gone over 11 hours. The trip should have been cancelled for weather. The number of people allowed in a boat should be the same number that can be in the water at any one time, i.e. 5. You shouldn't have to wait in the boat for a turn to have an encounter. The only good thing was that the little boy who fainted was cleared by the doctor and allowed to return to his hotel with his family.

Tour Operator Comment: Dear Fred J, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you did not have an enjoyable experience on your Swimming with Whale Sharks Tour. On the day of your tour, we were expecting some wind and waves, which we sometimes get. While it was still totally safe for you to do the tour, it could get uncomfortable on the boat while you’re waiting for the whale sharks to show up. Unfortunately, there were only two whale sharks in the area that day, and the place was crowded with quite a few boats around. Our goal is to give you an unforgettable experience during your vacation and we are sorry that we did not meet your expectations in this regard. We have asked Viator to process a refund on our behalf for the experience you received. Again, our sincere apologies for the inconvenience this has caused you. We hope to have another opportunity to give you an unforgettable experience in Los Cabos. Thank you for traveling with us.

This was awesome. There were a ton of whale sharks. Sadly, I didn't see any while I was briefly in the water. However, I saw a ton while I was on the very small boat. The people who ran the tour were really nice and went out of their way.
