Half-Day Trip to Montmorency Falls and Ste-Anne-de-Beaupré from Quebec

Quebec City, Canada

My Rating
3 star rating: Worth doing

My Review

This was a four hour tour of the countryside. The driver/guide tried his best to be humorous. The first stop was at a chocolate shop, which was totally unnecessary. This wasted nearly one half hour. The waterfall area, the main attraction, was given 40 minutes, which was not at all adequate. The gondola moved very slowly to the top, and the pathway to the fall was nearly on half mile. We had to practically run to the area. There was no time to go over the bridge over the fall. Instead of wasting time in a chocolate shop, we should have had more time here. The copper artifact factory was another unnecessary place to visit, where we spent more time than needed. This, along with chocolate factory, was a tourist trap. In any case, the countryside is worth a visit.

We saw both the old city and the new. Quebec is a cute city with a lot of character. The driver/guide spoke both in English and French, and was matter-of-fact.

Montreal City Guided Sightseeing Tour

Montreal, Canada

My Rating
3 star rating: Worth doing

My Review

This Montreal was very different from the Montreal I visited 38 years ago. It is dirtier. We toured the city by bus, and saw nothing really unique. The Old city was O.K. There was construction going on everywhere, which created a lot of traffic problems.

Boston in One Day Sightseeing Tour

Boston, Massachusetts

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

Frankie the driver cum guide was very knowledgeable of the city, being born and raised in Boston. A good guide can make all the difference when touring any place. The fall colors were spectacular, which also contributed to our enjoyment. We visited many, many historical places. As Frankie put it, Washington D.C. have monuments, and Boston has history.

Keukenhof Gardens and Tulip Fields Tour from Amsterdam

Amsterdam, Netherlands

My Rating
5 star rating: Highly Recommended

My Review

This garden is well worth a visit. It is all what it has been promoted to be. Absolutely gorgeous garden with every conceivable kind of flowers. There is a great windmill on the site also. Some local artists presented a song and dance feature. Just outside the huge garden, there were acres and acres of tulip farms... We were lucky that on April 5th, it was sunny and warm. Last year, April 5th was a dark, cold and snowy day. Try visiting this garden in mid April, just to be safe.

My Review

This was a day-long tour of the city and other attractions. The morning was devoted to a bus tour of the city. In the afternoon we visited the windmills, entered one of them, witnessed a saw mill operated by the windmill. Volendam and Marken villages were cute. We had a wonderful time. If you have just one day in Amsterdam, take this tour.

The representative of Viator was waiting for us at the subway station well before our supposed arrival time! She was very courteous and she took us to a spacious waiting area. After about an hour long wait, we were ushered into the boat. The waiters were most gracious though they spoke absolutely no English. They bent over backwards to meet our needs. The boat took us around the bay though the the lighted Tokyo was not as spectacular as we expected. In any case, the entire experience was worth it. They dropped us back by a special taxi to our hotel (Hilton). Dr. Kamath

My Review

The guide was knowledgeable though somewhat rude in her behavior. She spoke good English, but she could benefit from some training as to how not to argue with tourists. The Sky Tree was fabulous.
