El Yunque Rainforest Half-Day Trip from San Juan

San Juan, Puerto Rico

My Review

Really enjoyed the experience, but with the half-day tour full-day wasnt offered on day we wanted, there was limited time to actually see the rainforest. Would have liked to have known to pack a snack and we could have spent more time in the forest and not eating in a road-side cafe.

Our group of seven in a mini-van was the perfect size. Our driver/guide drove to all the must-see places and identified each of them. There was little explanation, but none was especially needed. There was a thirty-minute stop at Notre Dame which really was sufficient. In addition, there was a 45-minute stop at Monmantra. It was nice to be picked up at the hotel and returned to same...even though I was first on, last off, the tour was only four hours, leaving plenty of time to go back to see places which piqued my interest.

Eiffel Tower, Seine River Cruise and Paris Illuminations Night Tour

My Review

The departure time could be moved 15 minutes earlier to allow for traffic problems. We missed our boat departure by 7 minutes and had to wait for 53 minutes for the next boat. Not an ideal way to spend a cold winter night. The bus tour was very nice and all the important areas of Paris were “visited” with the exception of Notre Dame. Maybe that is because we were running so late because of traffic, but maybe it was because the cathedral was seen from the boat. The last stop was the Eiffel Tower. I felt rushed; we were given thirty minutes to see the views and get back on the bus; however, we waited an extra twenty minutes after the scheduled departure for those who never did show. We were told that we could stay at the Eiffel Tower if we wanted, but the guide never asked who would be returning and who would be staying. If she had done that, she would have known that only a few would be on the bus for the other stops.

David was wonderful. There were only two of us in the group, and David gave us his undivided attention for the entire tour. Explanations were thorough and informative. Questions were answered to our satisfaction. This is an amazing place to see, and I would recommend it.

Behind-the-Scenes Eiffel Tower Tour Including Champ de Mars’ Underground Bunker

Even though I had read the description of the tour, I wasn't sure what to expect. We did get to go to three places that aren't open to the general public: where the broadcast areas were, how the elevators operate, and on a special level “on top of” the restaurant. It was nice that the tour ended at the Eiffel Tower so you weren't rushed while there.

Wonderful. I like the open ticket in that it can be used at your convenience on the day chosen. It offers excellent views of Paris, and I always enjoy the photos taken at dusk

Ghent and Bruges Day Trip from Brussels

Brussels, Belgium

My Rating
3 star rating: Worth doing

My Review

This could have been a five-star attraction if the guide had been more flexible. In Ghent, all 50 of us got out of the bus and followed him at a sprint. He would get to a stopping point, wait for everyone to catch up then give a short description of what we were seeing. There were no headphones; explanations were given in Spanish then English at each stop. Then he was off again. After thirty minutes of this, we were given free time for thirty minutes. It was impossible to remember where the things you wanted to see were so you milled around at the meeting point.

After a short drive, we arrived in Bruges. The VERY first thing was that we had 90 minutes for lunch! This was followed by a visit to a candy factory. Then we were off on the sprints and descriptions.

As this tour was offered in December, by the time we were scheduled to leave, it was dark...not just dusk. I'm not sure how it was possible, but we didn't lose anyone.

This tour could be improved by lengthening the time in Ghent by thirty minutes and shortening the time for lunch by thirty minutes. If the “assigned” restaurant is expecting 50 people, they should be able to accommodate that many people who have time constraints.

As for us, we didn't eat a lunch...just a snack from a take-away shop. If you are in Ghent and Bruges for a few hours, you don't want to spend 90 minutes on lunch followed by a candy store where you are encouraged to buy..

Enjoyed my day. The others scheduled for the tour were no-shows so I had the driver to myself.
The tour included a lot of the must-see sights, but it did seem a little rushed in some places and a little long in others. When I said I wanted to skip La Predera and it would save money, and would like to see the Casa Mila, she told me there was no furniture and it was really expensive. The "recommended" restaurant for my lunch was really not even the least good, and it took the entire time allotted because service was so slow. The driver/guide would tell me she was doing something extra, but it was listed in the planned itinerary.

Absolutely amazing tour; I would do this again and again if the opportunity presented itself. Anna, the guide/driver; was fantastic. There are not enough words to describe her: friendly, personable, knowledgeable, accommodating; she could be my best friend.

Anna was willing to stop so we could get our passports stamped at the border. She was fun and always made sure we were enjoying ourselves. If she were the guide for my other tours in Barcelona, they would also have been fantastic.

Loved the tour; not a solitary problem, except the 9:15 p.m. start time, but that is almost a non-issue.
