Disappointing experience

We were told to come 45 minutes early. However, the tour started 30 minutes late so we were sitting around for over an hour only to find out they couldn’t fly over the volcanoes. I think they knew they couldn’t fly that morning and I think they should’ve let us know earlier. We could have made other plans if we had known earlier. We were actually able to spot whales, which was very exciting. However, the pilot said we would see more and only stayed over them for about 45 seconds. We never saw anymore, so I was really disappointed that he didn’t hover around the whales longer because it was the most exciting part of the trip. It was pretty but not what we hoped it would be.

The ride is nice only if you sitting by the window There is one middle seat in each flight that is not really fun, you can’t see well There is extra charge if you want the best seat which is the front seat beside the pilot , I think they also should reduce the price of the middle seat or stop offering it overall as whoever wants to travel the helicopter and pay this price , doing it to see the nice views so sitting at middle makes the experience really non fun

Awesome experience. Page, our helicopter pilot was very knowledgeable and did a great job flying over the active volcano and turning around several times so both sides of the helicopter could see the lava. The Big Island is breathtaking and can’t be accessed by car in a lot of areas. You really can’t appreciate the island until you get into a helicopter to see it for yourself. Highly recommended this tour and company.

Taking this helicopter tour was one of the best decisions I've made in a very long time. I love experiencing as much as I can about new destinations I travel to, their culture, history, geography, etc. With the helicopter tour you see the island in ways you can't see with ground tours or trekking on your own. With a knowledgeable and easy-going pilot makes the experience better. It allows for an excursion that is unequal and memorable that will stay with you. I was able to see the lava bursts which is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I'll never forget. Then add the jaw dropping views of the coast makes this excursion a must for travelers to the island. I've already told my friends about it.

Highly recommended. Worth the price. To be in between valleys and have waterfalls on both sides, landing on a no-man place, seeing volcano drain into ocean is one of kind experience.

Great way to see the island. Weather can affect flight and caused cancellation of our first scheduled flight. Flowing lava into the sea is very impressive view. Note that there are restrictions on how close helicopters can approach the eruptions in Volcano National Park. Facing backwards was not the best seat for viewing or photography. Mountains on north end of the island extremely impressive. Brief landing was plus for trip.

What a great experience! Our pilot, Troy was exceptional in telling the story of the Big Island. He took us up close and personal with the volcano and its amazing history. The flight into the green caverns was amazing. Absolutely the best way to start your stay on the Big Island.

Ryan our pilot was AWESOME!! This was our first time in a helicopter and have to admit we were a little nervous! No reason to be nervous at all! Such a smooth ride! Got to see so much of the island from a totally different view which was breathtaking! I think this was our favorite thing that we did all week and we did a lot! If you can do this one while you are there... DO IT!

SPECTACULAR!! AMAZING!! SUPERB!! Add about 30 more adjectives and you will get an idea of how fun this was. Our pilot, CHRIS, was a Marine helicopter pilot for a couple of decades, and took us up close and personal into the narrowest of canyons, with 4 waterfalls each a few hundred feet high flowing heavily, and we were right next to them. He landed us in the remote valley where King Kamehameha was hidden when he was a child from the rulers who were trying to kill him before he could claim the throne. We spent an hour having a picnic and hiking around. We made alot of memories on this flight, and cannot thank Chris and Paradise Helicopters enough. I would absolutely recommend everyone do this. There is a point where you are looking at the cost and going Thats a helluva lotta money for three hours but trust me, just do it. The money will come and go but the memories from this ride will last forever. A note of caution, this is a weather dependent thing - the island has almost daily rain on one side, and I would really recommend getting a clear understanding how it will work if you need to reschedule. We drew very lucky, huge rains the day before and after our ride, but spectacular clear skies were what we got. Sometimes you just get lucky, as I said. Also, my wife experienced nausea because she got the seat facing backwards in the copter. If anyone in your party is prone to sea/air sickness or motion sickness, let them know so they can do their best to minimize anything in that regard.

Had a great trip we did the 3 hour trip around the Big Island our pilot was professional and informed. Fortunately we had fairly good weather and the windward side we got to see great water falls and valleys. The landing in the outback was a minor disappointment we were high on a ridge and had great views but it was a clear cut area and hunting/ work camp. We did hike to the camp cabin was nice but not great. I would recommend this.

The helicopter tour was absolutely fantastic. The staff was excellent and professional - very helpful from start to finish. Our pilot gave us great information, made us feel safe and gave us a smooth, beautiful ride. This was certainly the most exciting and memorable experience of our trip to Hawaii.
