Thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Belfast, Dunluce Castle and the Giant's Causeway. The castle was an added bonus as the rope bridge we were scheduled to visit was closed. The substitution was brilliant and should really be part of the tour. Belfast black cab ride with our incredible cabbie who lived through "the conflict" and graciously shared his experiences was riveting. This is LIVING HISTORY at its best. If you have an opportunity to take this tour...don't miss it.
The coach (that was supposedly only a few weeks old) had issues that left us on the side of the motorway for 40 minutes then stuck at a toll booth for another 10 minutes. Finally, we got to our coffee stop and they had another bus waiting. It was old, smelled like wet, moldy dog, had no wifi (which we'd paid for) and our guide left to go on another bus and we ended up with the driver (who didn't seem to know the script all that well or which side of the bus things were coming up on). There were three other people with me on this tour and none of us could ever find any but one of the sites he pointed out on the drive. Once he said there was a large lake on the left-hand side of the bus. I swear I looked and looked and there wasn't so much as a puddle. Just green fields as far as the eye could see. So... not good. He first assured us that we would lose NOT TIME at any of the stops for the day. Well, that didn't happen. We only go an hour on the 2-hour Belfast Taxi Tour, which is a shame because (a) we paid for 2-hours and (b) that was an amazing experience that was cut short so we didn't see everything on the tour we were supposed to see. The Carrick-a-rede and Giant's Causeway were amazing. Really, the whole bus issue just put a damper on a big part of this tour and we ended up not getting all of what we paid for. Seriously, a partial refund would not be out of line. Especially after all the promises that we would get the full time at each stop. Ha! Did NOT get all we paid for out of this one. I wish I'd gone with the Paddy Wagon tour for this one. Did not leave a good impression of this tour company AT ALL.
This was a well paced excursion. It does not include a lunch stop but they do stop for bathroom breaks where you can purchase sandwiches and snacks. The guide was very informative and entertaining. I did the Black Taxi option and was very happy with that decision. It's very eye opening and insightful.
this was such a great experience. we enjoyed very much our trip to Belfast. we opted for the Belfast taxi tour and we learned so much about the city. though it was a sad story, it really opened up our eyes to something that we never new about let alone learn in school. a good amount of people opted for the titanic tour, but at the end of the day, we all know what happened with the ship, why not learn something and get a guide from a local. as i read some of the reviews, some may say that they felt rushed while on our destinations, but for us we felt that we were given the right amount of time in each place. the bridge was a bit scary but also enjoyable. it was quite windy that day so beware, the bridge may be canceled if its too rainy for safety reasons, but there are still beautiful walk ways and views to admire. the avenue of the giants was really interesting and very windy. be prepared to walk up and down hills to get to the giants. there is a shuttle provided for those that don't do well with elevated pathways. there wasn't a specific time where you could go somewhere and sit down to eat a full meal. i would recommend to bring sandwiches with you as your time for eating will be while on the road getting from one place to another. the main places to buy food would be at rest stops and cafes. our tour guide was very informative and what i enjoyed about this company is towards the end of the trip the guides will give great recommendations on what to do in Dublin such as entertainment and food. great trip to explore outside Dublin and a great way to see the countryside! so green and so much sheep. enjoy!
Although I had been to Dublin many times, I had never been outside of the city. This was a great adventure, history and absolutely beautiful countryside. The Giant's Causeway was amazing. Our guide was very knowledgeable along with hilarious and our bus driver navigated the narrow curvy roads with the skill of a race driver.
