Tiago was a fantastic guide - he genuinely knew so much and loves his city. There were so many things he spoke about and went well over the allotted time which we were most grateful for. I highly recommend Tiago as a guide for all type of topics related to history, art, walking and understanding historic events and having dinner with as part of the Fado part of the evening.
The tram ride up a busy, narrow street was exciting! I was hoping to join a casual sunset walking tour of the city, with a relaxing dinner and fado show at the end. But instead, it was all about 'fado'. It was basically a fado crash course. The guide passionately explained its history, key characters, and every relic we walked by. For me, it was a bit too intense.
We loved the fado show in a small quaint restaurant although the writeup said tapas and we assumed that would mean a variety of snacks instead of the bacalhau which everyone was served. it was a large portion but no choice. The writeup also said we'd 'catch a classic Lisbon sunset' until October when the sun sets earlier but by the time we arrived to the viewpoints it was already dark. The tour was supposed to be 7pm-10pm but lasted to 11pm for a 2 hour show. Normally I wouldn't mind a longer tour, however, there was a taxi strike on and we then had to walk back to our hotel from the end of the tour which was different from our meeting place and we had to be up early the next morning. The guide did try his best and there were some good information on the Alfama district and fado but the writeup was not quite what we expected.
We had such a pleasant, informative and entertaining evening! Our tour guide (a lovely young woman from Italy originally) gave us the history of Fado while touring the neighborhoods and meeting the locals. Our dinner was delicious and the Fado performances were outstanding! I highly recommend this tour whilst in Lisbon!
Danny was awesome. This was such a great tour, I'm so glad I took it. I really wanted to see a Fado performance which was very good. The highlight was all the information and fun we had even before we got to the Fado performance. Danny is super knowledgeable and shares the information in such a fun way. Could not have asked for a better tour guide. Thank you!
Daniella was our tour guide and she made this the highlight of our time in Lisbon! She was full of energy and knowledge on the city! We learned a lot from her! And the fado music was great! The venue was also top notch; the food came out between performances and everyone was silent while the singer was on stage. We went to another show somewhere else while in the city and it was not the same; this place is definitely the place to go to watch a performance.
What a fun and informative evening! Walking through the old neighborhoods, sampling the cherry liquor, riding the trolley, dining at a Fado bar -- this tour was a perfect complement to the daytime general tour of Lisbon. The guide was outstanding and gave us a lot of history, culture, and current events.
