One of the best tours I have ever done...and I have travelled to around 100 countries...so I mean exactly what I just said...I was initially a bit skeptical when I saw a young guide coz I prefer to hear from people who have lived during the communist era...but Nikolai simply blew the group away...he was very well researched...knew exactly how to captivate the audience and gave us so many incredible details..and spoke impeccable English...in short it was absolutely brilliant...one tour you should never miss if u are in Sofia...also I will recommend the free walking tour run by the same group...its called 365...they are brilliant!!!
It is scheduled for two hours but the guide announced it would be three or more! It should be two hours. As a retired college professor who taught for 40 years I know about setting priorities. This guide's major interest was hearing himself talk rather than educating the audience. He needs to work within the two hour time constraint. If he is going to have a long tour, he must allow for a toilet break. At 1 3/4 hours he had not. We left. He also never collected the vouchers or money from those who did not have vouchers, so some people got a free tour. I also asked him to help me with a health problem and I explained how he could do it without any loss to the other individuals. He did the opposite! He made it more difficult for me. This is the worst free tour we have ever taken and, believe me, we have taken others. He did not give us his name but I am sure he is one of the only people who do the tour. He says the tour is 4 kilometers long. That is a lot of walking, particularly when some of the stops really were of minimal value.
I wasn't sure what to expect but the tour was amazing!
The tour lasted over 3 hours and there wasn't any time during the tour that we were not engaged. The sights were ok but the narrative and history were incredible.
The highlight of the tour was our guide, Stefan. You rock Stefan!!!
