We had a truly wonderful day with Solange exploring Pisac, Maras, Ollantaytambo and Moray. We even squeezed in a little trip to see some alpacas at the end of the day and got the opportunity to learn how the local women spin the alpaca wool and dye it. We started at 6:30AM and made it back about 6:30PM that evening. Everything was as expected. Solange was so wonderful and informative. My 5 year old son also came with us and she made it fun for him as well. We were picked up and dropped off to our hotel which was super convenient and all communication was easy via WhatsApp.
The only thing I wish would have been different was the lunch. It was a buffet style at a restaurant and it wasn't bad but I feel we could've eaten somewhere better - there is such amazing food in Peru and I feel the buffet was lackluster. Other than that everything else was wonderful. Solange rearranged the day so we could hit certain sites when there would be less people which was perfect - not too crowded and nice to go at our own pace instead of being overwhelmed by crowds.
Sarah so glad to hear that you and your son had an unforgettable time in the Sacred Valey :-) We will try to change the buffet so that next time when you come, you will be treated with the best peruvian food :-P
My boyfriend and I went on this tour with our super wonderful and friendly guide Solange. There were only 8 of us on the tour and we drove around the mountains in a small van. The van picked us up around 6:30 AM at our location in the morning and we started the drive to the sacred valley. We stopped and walked around at Pisac, Maras, Moray, and Ollantaytambo. Solange was very informative and seemed to genuinely enjoy her time with our group and talking about the history of these places. We also stopped for some delicious empanadas, a lunch buffet (the buffet wasn't that great, but hey, it's included in the price) and some chicha. We were dropped off near the main square around 8PM because there was traffic coming back into Cusco. Half of our group decided to get dropped off at the train station at Ollantaytambo so they could go directly to Aguas Calientes that night and then Machu Picchu the next day (I think this was a great idea, so definitely consider this option in your plans). Overall, this was an amazing day with a great guide. Thank you for the experience!
We were the only people booked for the tour for that day so we ended up getting a private tour! Luis was our tour guide and he was awesome — very knowledgeable and able to answer all of our questions. He spoke excellent English and even accommodated a quick stop at a tap room in the Sacred Valley. Overall, a great experience.
