Pernoite: Hotel Mercure Kakadu Crocodile

Everything went to plan. Excellent guides, drivers, food, accommodation at Croc. Well organised 3 days.
Kakadu is beautiful and we felt we had a glimpse, but were very pleased with all the rock art stops, waterfalls, gorges, boat cruises, crocodiles and the local Aboriginal hosts sllowing us on their land. Take water everywhere and sunscreen and insect repellent. Take bathers to JimJim pool for swimming. Sturdy shoes for rock walking.
Would recommend this trip to any age, provided you can walk actively.

1st and 3rd days were AATKings and 2nd day Gagudju Adventure tours. Sheldon, Hiram? and Rob were fantastic and their apparent knowledge was impressive. Kudos to each for making each day memoriable and enjoyable. The room at the crocodile hotel in Jabiru was fine and we had evening meals in the hotel restaurant which were very good.

Overall, the trip was fantastic and highly recommend - although every place we went to can be done independently just as easily but we'd not have learnt as much.

The 1st day offered an optional 50min plane trip from Jabiru to Cooinda for 250 ppx. It was fantastic and well worth doing to see Kakadu from a different perspective. If Jim jim closed check 1st ask pilot to fly over it as not allowed to when open. Also the NT Entertainment book offers 50 off for Kakadu Air trips.
Yellow water cruise encapsulated everything we envisaged Kakadu was and then some. A few small crocs but birdlife in abundance. Geologist Adam, our skipper, saw a Jabiru in the far distance and got us nice and close. Could have kept cruising all day...
Nourlangie lookout was good but requires good mobility.
The 2nd day had Jim Jim closed so we went to Gunlom and Maguk instead. These were fantastic replacements and we had no complaints. Saw everything feral besides pigs and driver slowed/stopped on each occurence to allow plenty of photos. The climb to Gunlom upper pools and lookout require a fair deal of mobility and effort but are worth it. The lower pool aint bad either! Maguk is more easily accesible but requires a 10 min walk with some climbing of rocks.Swimming in each is available but at own risk - most swam.
Ubirr was magical. Views from atop were stunning but again required good mobility.
Border store owners were very friendly. Lemongrass iced tea recommended. Their Thai is renowed by Bininj and Balanda alike in these parts.
The cultural cruise on the east Alligator river was chocka block full of crocs near Cahills crossing and enjoyable. Ranger mine driveby good.

The trip was fantastic. The organisation altogether was great every day and the guides were terrific!
But there were also a few things that didn't work well: I printed the voucher for the trip at home but never had to show it to anyone. On that sheet it said that I would get further information about the trip in my hotel in Darwin - but I didn't get anything at all... So I got picked up on time for this experience but never had an itinerary. Everyone I asked didn't know who should have given me the information... Very disappointing!
As we travelled with people doing the 2-day trip, the bus driver told us in the evening to get picked up at 8 am the other day. That was completely a wrong time since I was on the 3-day trip. So in the morning, the concierge rang me and I had to be ready within 10 minutes to go to the waterfalls by 4-WD...
Because of the end of the dry season, unfortunately we didn't go to Jim Jim and Twin Falls. The guide told us that there wasn't much water left. So we went to other waterfalls that were beautiful and had pools to swim in :)
The crocodile hotel was nice. However there was a power blackout during one night. I woke up in the middle of the night because it was very hot and humid in the room. Then I realised that the power and therefore the aircon didn't work...
Besides those incidents, I enjoyed the trip very much and would certainly recommend it. The best time to travel would be between June and September.

The tour delivered everything it stated, and my accommodation was much better than expected. Thank you
Sadly no waterfalls were working in the Jim Jim Falls/ Twin falls day. I was not expecting that. I did have a nice swim tho..

This was an excellent tour, and I would highly recommend it. There were lots to see, especially if you took the optional joy flight at extra cost. We saw aboriginal art sites, waterfalls and plunge pools and the fabulous Yellow Waters wetlands area. The Croc hotel was fine with the meals adequate. There was one issue in that the Viator website and app suggested that the tour included some canoe paddling. This has not been the case for many years in the particular area and should be corrected. We liked the fact that the three days were actually 3 separate day tours, giving great variety and different people to mix with.

The tour was fascinating. There were three peaks: Yellow Water, Ubirr, East Alligator River.
The tour to the falls is beautiful. However, the guide suggested that we don't go all the way to Jim Jim Falls since the track is hard, so we stopped about half way. Retrospectively, it was a mistake. Rather than deterring us he should encourage and offer to help us. I am sure we could have made it.
Other than that we don't have any critique. It was great. The guide on the the third day, Robert, was super. The Crocodile Hotel is very good.

The tour description is a little out of date. There is no canoeing in Kakadu because of salt water crocodiles. The tour is actually the AAT Kings 3 Day Kakadu and Twin Falls Adventure. I travelled in early June but the road to Jim Jim Falls and Twin Falls were both still closed, so we visited Gunlom Falls (Echo Billabong from Crocodile Dundee) instead. There were different people in my tour group every day, either on a 1, 2, 3 or 4 day tour of Kakadu. On the last day before returning to Darwin my group of 26 people had to wait a considerable time for day trippers to get back from a cruise before we could all go back to Darwin with a full bus load.
