I would highly recommend this trip. Our tour guide, Josh, and the driver, Solus (?sp) made sure we experienced many stops to take in the richness of the Highland landscape. It was breathtaking, and Josh made sure we had historical, current and engaging information to help us appreciate what we experienced. We fit a lot into the day, but Josh and Solus also made sure we had several comfort breaks and opportunities to stretch our legs. We saw castles, landscapes wtih waterfalls, mountains--even highland cows!-- although Josh did say the stops vary from trip to trip and the conditions of the day. While we didn't see Nessie at Lochness, we did have Josh, who is also a national treasure (with a dry down to earth sense of humor and playfulness) Take the trip! Try to get Josh and Solus! You will not be disappointed. We were thrilled.
This was one of the most entertaining bus tours I've been on since we went on vacation. Our tour guide Josh was entertaining and engaging. There were not only historical information but small random cultural facts thrown in. I have been on several other bus tours prior to this and this was by far the best one. Along with the tour guide, the tour itself was great. Plenty of small stops for bathroom and food breaks. Plenty of stops to take pictures. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone looking for a guided tour of the highlands.
This was an amazing, quick tour to look at some of the major attractions in Scotland. Their check-in process was smooth, and the coach was clean as well. The real reason we loved this tough was because of our outstanding person/driver/tour guide, Kallie. Trust us, they are serious when they say it’s a day tour. It’s actually a 12-hour tour from pick-up to drop off. But throughout this time, our tour guide who was also our driver, Kallie kept us informed and entertained. Hats off to her for being friendly and answering any question we had without a slightest frustration. I believe very few people can do that while driving a small group for 12 hours and giving useful information about the history/location throughout. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and recommend it if someone is on a short trip in Scotland.
Cons: Not much to talk about here. It just feels a bit rushed as there is genuinely a lot of places get covered in a day. So, the tour may not be for everyone depending on one’s preference. We used it as to know about Scotland, so, we can spend more time at the places we like when the next time we visit. The tour operators & guides are super nice and helpful, but I feel tourists should be considerate as well. We saw 3 ladies occupied 3 window seats and put their bags on the seats next to them after the first few stops. That made everyone else change their seats along with their partners. So, the tourists should also assume some responsibility to make the tour comfortable and enjoyable for everyone!
Very nice trip. I wouldnt recomment the boattrip in lochness, not worth the money, better go with the guide and have more time to walk through the castle. Also there should be more small stops to take better photos of the highlands.
The area is absolutely gorgeous and a must-see if you're visiting Scotland! A picture doesn't do it justice. The view gets 5 stars, the tour gets 3. The day really did seem to drag on because of so many stops. If you get easily car sick, then being a passenger in a bus for 12 hours is going to be rough especially when the driver takes turns so quickly. Prepare to take some Dramamine before you get on the bus. The tour part of the excursion wasn't particularly entertaining or memorable so if I could redo it I would have rented a car so I could visit the area at my own pace and not be stuck in a tour group.
Covering Loch Ness, Glen Coe and the Scottish Highlands was really ambitious for a 1-day tour. As a result, a lot of our stops were 5-10 minute photo-stops. The scenery was exceptional, but it was hard to enjoy with the pressing time schedule. It would be have been awesome if we were given enough time to walk around Glen Coe and the beautiful Scottish Highlands. There were a lot of rest stops throughout the day, which I felt could have been better used to cover more of the vital attractions.
If you are looking for a general overview of the Highlands, then this tour is for you. If you were hoping for paced-out trip with some hiking involved, unfortunately this will leave you wanting.
The whole trip was filled with our tour guide's funny stories which made the lengthy bus rides more enjoyable. Loved his sense of humour and kept us entertained with Scottish history, music and trivias the whole time. The destinations are simply breathtaking and we are lucky to have had a nice weather. The price of the tour is very much worth it and we were impressed with the efforts of our tour guide in ensuring we have a wonderful trip with his chats and music playlist. See if you can request for Steven B to be your guide when you book this trip if you want to find yourself laughing while on his bus. :)
If you don't pay the extrat 20£ for the tour on the boat, you wont be even allowed to approach the Loch Ness... You will just see it a bit in the bus and from very far to take a picture with only 5 minutes there. The site doesn't precise this. For the price of the trip it is a pitty. The bus stoped an hour for us to eat in a very touristic place with no parlicular landscape or loch. Quite disappointing.
