We had a great day with Neal or Neil? our tour guide for the day. There were four of us in the group, my girlfriend and I and two nice young women from France by way of Canada. We started with a nice trip on the train to Epernay which was relatively quick and gave us a chance to get some contextual information from Neal and also get to hear about the background and travel experiences of everyone in the group.
Once on the bikes the tour is just quite beautiful, you get to see the terrain from many different angles and Neal knows both the area, the grapes and the champagne quite well and always did his best to give informative answers to anything we wanted to know. We even managed to overstay our champagne sampling and missed our train, but fortunately he was able to provide other areas to explore as we whiled away the time for the next train. So, he was resourceful as well as informative.
My friend and I booked a Champagne Region bike tour from Paris via Viator months in advance. Our booking was for 13 September and the only information we had was to meet at a particular train station at 8.15am. We arrived with plenty of time to spare because the detail about the meeting point was so vague.
There was no one at the main entry points to the station for the tour and the ticket office couldn't provide us any information on where to meet. We were getting to the point where we thought we would miss our tour that we spent quite a lot of money on.
At the last minute we found an information booth that told us which platform the trains for the champagne region were leaving from. It was only through this investigation that we found our tour guide and we only had about 2mins to spare before the train left.
I'd like to express my disappointed with the communication about the meeting point. We almost missed our tour because of the poor communication on your behalf. Not good enough Viator!
I tried to provide feedback via the Viator reviews email address, however, I have received no response. Normally I wouldn't provide negative feedback via a public forum but I had no choice.
This was absolutely amazing. It was the highlight of my trip to France this time. It was so beautiful, the bikes were fun to ride, and the small vineyard we visited was so quaint and the champagne was delicious. The larger winery was meh, but still fun to see the difference. Our guide Alexandra was absolutely the best, so knowledgeable about champagne and the area, as well as so caring and nice. Our train back to Paris died on the tracks and stranded us for 3 hours longer as we were then stuck in Epernay, but Alexandra took all the stress out of it and made sure we were taken care of. We ended up having to take a taxi back to Paris because they couldn't guarantee that the train would leave again until after midnight and we had an early morning flight, which was expensive, but not at all the fault of the tour company. I would highly recommend the trip!
Excellent day out in the French countryside. Our guide Neil was very friendly and knowledgeable . We sampled many champagnes and bought a couple to take home. The e- bikes worked well as there were a couple of serious hills to climb. Loved this tour
The best tour we've been to. Our guide Neil told us everything worth to know about champagne in an relaxing and funny way that makes this special wine even more interesting. The day is well organized with at least two stops with wine tasting we made 4 stops during the day without any hurry.
Using electrical bikes through small villages and the most beautiful views of great fields of grapes.
Can really recommend this tour for everyone over 18 - DO IT!
