Winter Adventures in Colorado

Winter Adventures in Colorado
Colorado’s mountains transform into an adventurer’s playground once the snowflakes start to fly in the winter months. With its snow-capped mountain peaks, high-alpine lakes, and evergreen forests, Colorado offers plenty to do even in the snow. Here are some of the state’s most popular winter activities.
Skiing & Snowboarding
With its myriad powder-covered mountains, Colorado is paradise for skiers and snowboarders. No matter your skill level, you’ll find ideal trails statewide—from mellow bunny hills to extreme black-diamond slopes. Stick close to Denver and ski or snowboard at Winter Park or in Summit County, or perhaps explore further afield in chic Aspen or historic Telluride.
Dog Sledding
Whip across wide-open meadows and take hairpin turns through snow-covered trees on an exciting dog-sledding adventure in Colorado. There’s nothing like sailing through fresh powder on a sled behind a pack of energetic sled dogs. Many experiences include time to pet and pose for photos with the happy dogs before or after your ride.
Ice Skating
Whether you’re taking twirls on a resort’s outdoor ice rink or enjoying the natural ice formed on a high-altitude lake, ice skating is a fun way to enjoy the winter weather in Colorado. Beaver Creek and Vail have easily accessible rinks where you can rent skates, while Evergreen and Keystone boast expansive lakes circled by mountains. Round out your day and warm up after your spin around the rink with some hot cocoa.
