The tour itself was very good. However, due to our guide having to repeat everything in three different languages which he did a great job of and was also not in his control I found our time at Coba was very rushed. I had done this exact tour 2.5 years ago and we had far more time to see everything. The only reason I knew we missed so much was because I had been there before but my brother had not.
The negative response I have is that it was darn near impossible to contact Viator to confirm our tour pick up time at our hotel. You can't reach them!!! The only reason I tried to call them was that the phone numbers for the 'Tour Operator' that Viator supplied on the voucher were both 'out-of-service'. Needless to say, I thought I had been scammed. The tour bus actually showed up though and the trip was great, except for the amount of time spent at the sites, both Coba and Tulum.
I absolutely loved this tour! I would definitely go again.
Best tour ever had. The Mayan sites were not too crowded and we had a wonderful lunch with a view on the Coba lake. The Cenote was not touristy and I really enjoyed it. The guide was very nice and entertaining.
The guide was really good, Coba, Tulum and Cenote combination is perfect for a one day trip. Could of things we were really disappointed about is the travel time. We were picked up at 6am from our resort. We were the first ones on the bus. After that there were SEVERAL stops, we ended up getting to our first destination only around 10 or so. That was way too many hours spent on the bus. Not sure if it was because of this we really didnt get too much time at the location spots. We got only about 45 minutes at each location. Would have been nice to get more time to swim in the Senote and shop at Tulum and climb all the way to the top in Coba. But the guide did a great job.
This a rather small company compared to the other larger tour operators. The pickup location in Playa del Carmen is rather easy to locate, it was a small van without any obvious logo of the tour operator. We had to pick up several other people along the resorts in Riviera Maya and finally changed to the big bus with passengers from Cancun in the middle of the highway. The guide was very nice and shared a lot of history.
The tour is correctly planned in its time-management, it was run by a French and a Dutch ladies as guides both live in Cancun and know very well the region and the people at Coba, Tulum and the Cenote, both have excellent Spanish and English. To arrange the pick-up time was tricky as no one from the agency contacted us, we had to write through email and make the hotel concierge call them twice.
Coba is really special, a full view on top of the jungle. Climbing there is not as hard as it seems, nevertheless if you are not accustomed to do exercise, do it slowly. You will have to do a walk of about 2 kilometers to get to the pyramid, the walk will be lead by your guide so avoid the temptation to rent a bike and skip their explanations. Finally, the return is done in a tricycle driven by a local guy.
The Cenote Tankach-Ha is for my taste the most special place you will see in the tour. It is a huge pothole circular cavern area about 40 metres in diameter, you will access through a ladder to a huge deep blue crystalline water lagoon covered by a ceiling. It is so deep that you may dive with no risk from 6 metre and 10 metre platforms. You may also rent a floating jacket if you prefer to do it.
The lunch is good quality, very local taste the pork puerquita is superb. But if you don't trust me, I can grant that after the cenote swim and Coba climbing you will be hungry enough and you will eat almost everything you will be put up to.
Finally, Tulum is a nice place. What stands out is it is a ruin with a nice market area beside it first time I experienced such thing. If you prefer to go on the truck and avoid a 1 kilometer walk, be prepared to pay 20 pesos per person. Most probably the tour won't arrive there on time to go down to the beach area which is nice for photographs and probably to swim there. In my case I had to be satisfied on the views to the beach area because they were closed as we arrived a little late.
The most probable result is that by 7pm you will arrive to your hotel satisfied with the long day experience.
very hot but such an amazing place to visit very good tour guides . well worth the visit and cenote was such a refeshing swim after the jungle .
This tour was not happened as your tour operator has not came to pick us at the hotel. we have contacted him he told that his pickup is coming in 10 minuts no one has come and after that they did not picked up the phone. They have not given their address on the web. We came with out visiting to our country inspite of making payment to you in advance. we lost opportunity to visit Tulum,Coba and wested our time and money. Now we may not able to see these places in our life. Your local operator is fraud.
Please return our money and delist your local tour operator.

This is a good tour to see multiple sites in one day. I would recommend going on a cooler day, since it is mostly outdoors. This tour spends 75-90 minutes on a guided walk in Coba, then 45 minutes-1 hour at the Tankach-Ha cenote, about 1 hour for a buffet lunch, and a little more than an hour in Tulum. Each location was full of tourists, so be prepared for crowds. Our tour guide, Enora, was great - she was knowledgeable and conducted the tour in Spanish and English. A couple of gripes I have with this experience are the long distances between hotel pickups and the condition of the tour bus. We were the first pick-up at 5:30AM and made 2 more pick-ups at least 1.5 hours away before officially starting the tour at 9AM there had to have been a better arrangement. In addition, the tour bus was poorly maintained - windows had smears and the seats were dirty and some were even broken. Ultimately, we did everything on the itinerary, but it was unsatisfactory in terms of providing the best guest experience.
Bring your own Towel to Swim : And Book the Tour
That's my only recommendation, the tour was fantastic. You get to see Coba, climb the ruins if you wish and learn about the area and culture from an archaeologist. Ours was from Mayan decent and it was great to hear his personal stories as well!
After Coba you swim in a beautiful underwater Cenote before having lunch and the opportunity to shop from locals who create souvenirs/gifts. Then off to Tulum which was beautiful as well.
My only negative is time, i wish we could have spent more time at each place, but thats the trade off when you visit so many areas in one day. it is a long day 11-12 hours but well worth it!
Not enough time to swim the cenote. Very rushed tour.
