Overall good choice. Wish there was more time allowed for exploring on your own. Frank was great highlighted all the interesting points of the structures. A hour for “free time” is not a lot to roam on your own.

The early access trip is the way to go to Chichen Itza! It was not hot early in the day, not crowded, and entrance was well managed. Our driver, Ramon, did a good job. Our guide, Marco, was outstanding....personable and very knowledgeable about the site and the Mayan culture . We would definitely recommend this trip.

Getting up extra early on vacation was worth it to get to Chichen Itza early and beat the crowds. Amigo tours was great our guide Marco was excellent and very knowledgeable and our bus driver Raphael was great also.

Tour itself was good. Guide (Marco) was engaging and knowledgeable.Waking up super early was hard but it was highly worth it. Avoiding the heat and crowds by getting to Chichen Itza early makes it a much more enjoyable experience. Plus you get back to your hotel by 3pm leaving ample beach/pool/nap time. That being said, the Mayan village you stop in before Chichen is little more than a shopping center. And the box lunch (served at ~8:30 am) you receive is very underwhelming (white bread ham sandwich, small apple, potato chips). Best pack lots of snacks and water to keep going through the day.

Get out of bed. Getting to Chichen Itza in the morning was the best decision we made this trip. The crowds that were in line when we were leaving was unbelievable. Busses and cars for a mile. Frank and Charlie made a great experience even better. I highly recommend Amigo tours.

Excellent trip with Amigo Travels. The guide and driver were really good and the trip followed the set timelines. Also we were offered veg. option which was the cherry on cake, Early access provides good pictures ( ours was the second bus in the parking lot) .

Nice experience, Frank is very knowledgeable and funny. Wish we packed snacks as the included lunch was not much -no pork free option. Also we stop at a souvenir shop first don’t spend all your money there as there are vendors at Chichen Itza as well. Lower quality items but they would also benefit from a sale.

Wonderful time. So glad we chose the early option that got us out of the sun before it was too hot. Thank you for sharing this experience with us.

Was surprised to find out (when the concierge called to confirm) that pick up time was 0430! I had read "early access" as 0700. Yes, that is about the time you get there! But, it was well worth it! By the time we were leaving, it was starting to get VERY hot and there were PEOPLE everywhere. When we arrived, there were only about 5 buses. Marco is an EXCELLENT guide and Ramon (driver) got us there safe and sound. Very much enjoyed day...even if it was early!

Marco was our guide, and he is as good as all the reviews say he is. No doubt that it is not fun waking up at 4 am to catch your ride to the tour bus. However, you get to rest on the bus for a while, then Marco starts describing some of the history of the Maya. He sets the stage for truly appreciating the moment when you see the grounds. You get a nice stop to pick up some souvenirs as well as your lunch, and I recommend taking a look. The quality and prices of the souvenirs tend to be better than those you can buy at Chichen Itza. Also, you want to minimize your time shopping with the vendors when you are at Chichen Itza so you can look around the grounds, which is the whole reason you are there. Once on the grounds, Marco gives a great tour with a description of the engineering features of the buildings, especially El Castillo. Instead of just looking at everything, you get some details that I was able to find on Wikipedia, but I would have had a hard time seeing them just walking around on my own. By the way, while you are walking around, there are substantially fewer people walking around compared with when we were leaving. Since I love to take pictures, this was great for getting some shots of El Castillo and the other buildings with no people. The line to get onto the grounds was huge as we were leaving, while we waited no time to get in. I suspect it was much less frustrating than sleeping in and coming later. At any rate, we got back to the hotel early enough to relax and have some drinks. It's a 12 hour day, but you will end it with a smile and an appreciation for the intriguing Mayan Empire. Highly recommended!
