We had a limited amount of time in Tasmania and wanted to find a good way to see a number of different things on the island. This was a great trip to make that happen. We began by going to Mount Field to see the tall trees, wildlife, and waterfalls. It was a nice walk through the forest and everything was beautiful. We followed that up with a visit to the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. There, we saw Tassie devils, fed Kangaroos and got to pet a koala. We then drove through wine country to Richmond. It was a cute little town with some shops where we had scallop pie (a Tasmania specialty) for lunch. Finally, we drove up to Mount Wellington for beautiful views of Hobart. Jarrod - our guide - was really fantastic. He provided us with a lot of information along the way and had a ton of interesting knowledge. Overall, this was an awesome way to see a number of different sites in Tasmania and I'd highly recommend it.
It was a fantastic tour we were given just the right amount at each place. Russell falls were beautiful and seeing the work that they do at the sanctuary was incredible. This is a must do if you are in Hobart!
This was an interesting day out, starting with a misty morning drive to Mt Field NP for a brisk walk to see the waterfalls. I found the wildlife sanctuary rather disappointing, in spite of the fact that they care for and rehabilitate injured animals. Being a public holiday, the place was packed, and it wasn't easy to hear the guide. I thought there were too many kangaroos in their enclosure, being fed by the tourists on dried pellets, which most of them weren't interested in. Good information regarding Wombats and Tasmanian Devils, though. Richmond was a great little town, the main attraction being the old stone bridge, the oldest still in use in Australia. Lots of arts and crafts. As it was a fine clear day the view from Mt Wellington in the late afternoon was fantastic, and a fitting end to the tour
This was an excellent tour, with a variety of sites. The view of Hobart from Mt. Wellington was stunning if you can get there in good weather. The tour guide, Jarrod, was friendly and knowledgeable and not one bit overbearing.
Jarrod was really good. Knowledgeable and made things interesting. Apart from the history, geography he had so many nice trivias, we enjoyed every part of the tour. Glad that we took the tour with him. Went out of his way to make people comfortable.
Jarrod is a great guide, and we had a great time. You get to see waterfalls, feed many kangoroos, see Hobart from a Mt Wellington, eat lunch at Richmond. The tour was at just the right pace, and Jarrod the guide, was the nicest person! He makes sure everyone is happy.
